RD Dawg this was known even when Thomas was still living. The family in letters to his brother got on to him for sleeping with the slaves.

Of course they were. We are talking about an era in which, once a woman reached her late 30’s, it was close to a death sentence to get pregnant. So men could no longer have sex with their wives in good conscious.

The way that the DNA has been exaggerated as proving more than it proves is annoying but the contemporary letter of introduction with the "P.S., This man is Thomas Jefferson's son" is a damned convincing piece of the puzzle.

No Jefferson scholar has ever taken that story seriously. The information has always been available, but the vast majority of people believed that fairy tale simply because they heard someone else say it. Get off your butts and research stories.
