re: Trump's new "immigration deal" is a huge choke job; giving farm away for little to nothing

What if democrats call Trump's bluff and accepts the deal?
It's got to get 50% + 1 House Republicans. Which as it is now, won't happen.
The House Republicans are going to negotiate it more conservative so it can pass the House. The nine Dem senators will be on board with a path to citizenship for DACAs. Without pressure to get the House GOP to the table, nothing will ever get through.
I don't think it's a bad play from the WH, assuming my thinking is what they intend.

Y'all missed the Rush show today talking about this.
If you notice the Democrats are tripping over themselves to talk down about it when it's actually a Great Compromise that's been offered.
Even Rush Limbaugh admitted today that he would be okay with amnesty with no voting rights for 15 years if the Democrats approved the wall

Nothing trump said has become law.
Both sides see him.as incompetent re getting bills passed.
His entire shtick is "pass it now" so there is the illusion of activity..

You're not getting a Mexican-paid wall either. Glad it's finally sinking in for some of y'all, at least.
Who cares? Just build the damn wall and start deporting the illegals. Texas and California spend enough on illegals each year to be able to build two walls each year.

Maybe Trump knows they ain't bitin' and he can use this to show that there is no reasonable compromise to be had.
This. This is MORE than a reasonable offer. The next one won't be. He's forcing their hand and they're too dumb to take it. How they gonna appease all these folks his offering amnesty to when he goes in hard on their asses?

Trump needs to do better than this. Immigration is an issue I'm not willing to give much ground on

you say utterly bullcrap things like this as if trump supporters are compromising their values or have been snookered by trump all along. it's doubtful even the most ardent trump supporter is going to agree with absolutely everything he does. second, he has been owning the left so far but that doesn't mean he isn't going to deal with them at some point which has absolutely nothing to do with the values of people on the right.

Thanks for posting the framework.
I have no problem with PDJT's proposed "Immigration Deal" as long as the 10 - 12 year path to citizenship for the 1.8 million includes:
1. No criminal record (other than being an illegal immigrant).
2. Those 10 -12 years include military service or something similar to the Wiki - Civilian Conservation Corps.
It's going to be difficult to execute any "infrastructure" efforts without a construction workforce. Don't worry about these family cultured craftsmen, they're conservative to the bone and allies to the Great Awakening. If not, they will be after a decade of service to this Great Nation.

This is DACAs awarded Green Cards in exchange for tightened immigration, border security, and the wall.
Do you know the difference between citizen and green card holder?

I laughed way too hard at that

Occam's razor in this situation might simply mean that it's a bad deal to some of you, and that's understandable. But to me, I feel like if the average layperson can see that it's a pretty bad deal then Trump CERTAINLY can, which makes me think there's something else at play here we're not privy to.
Either there's a setup strategy behind it and DJT is playing the long game or he knows it'll get rejected and he can wash his hands of it. On the surface this move would be totally out of his character, think about it.

He is painting them into a corner again and they are too stupid to see it. Offer them a deal then allow the sky screamers to take over, Dems will not accept, Shut the government down, and the narrative is set. The Democrat Party is going to have to choose between the Progressives and the Neo Libs. My guess is they will go with the Progressives and get crushed in the midterms again.

At first glance, I would agree; however, the Dems reaction/rejection of the offer makes any concern (if this was a "real" offer [of which I have my doubts]) moot.
That said, remember that Trump has not just the Dems to deal with as to his "wants" (wall, merit based system, end of chain migration), but the Flake/Graham wing of the GOP as well (US Chamber of Commerce, employers, etc.). This was aimed at them as well.
With one move, the Dems have shown they have no interest in border security or actual "reform" of the immigration system.

The Trump fanaticism is truly reaching Obamabot-esque proportions.

That’s a good point about the GOPe.
Also as I read through this thread many posters are making some good points concerning the long term strategy Trump is probably playing here. Admittedly I may be a little short sighted here because I understand the Democrats long game with immigration. They want to turn other states blue like they turned the once great state of California blue and eventually turn this nation into Venezuela. It’s probably the issue I’m most emotional about because it literally carves out the future path of the U.S. I don’t want to go down the shithole path. But that what happens when you take a country and fill it with people from shitholes. They bring their shithole here. We don’t want that.

I second your distrust of the Dems and admit that my "read" may be incorrect.
However, Trump is a long game kind of guy so I lean to this being an actual strategy.
