What, exactly, make it "an embarrassing way"? What specifically is embarrassing about their support for Trump?

If you think about it, it’s kind of redundant to take taxes out of a paycheck that comes from tax revenue

This was suggested to Trump by someone interviewing him on a podcast.

It would never get through the process to become reality.

What should “this board” be doing with this information two weeks away from an election against the biggest clueless do-nothing nitwit socialist ever to grace a major party ticket?

Trump says he is considering making Cops & Firefighters exempt from paying Income Tax.

I mean they are all paid from taxes, right? OK, Mr. Police Mann, we need back 28% of what we just gave you. Because we need it to pay you again next month, and take 28% out of that too. Plus we have to hire more people with office space and supplies to ensure we get that 28% back, that we just paid you, from money we took from you last month. I know its confusing, but its only fair

Sorta like telling Disney theme park or NFL workers they have to buy a ticket to get into their workplace. Thats what pays their salary. Why penalize them?

Libtard??? Thomas Jefferson literally wrote in the Constitution, "There shall be no direct tax upon the people." (until Big Government thieves started stealing our earned income via amendments, around WWI)

At least, Trump is making a shift back towards conservative Jeffersonian principles for waitress' tips, cops & firefighters. More work to do for the rest of American workers, but it's a start.

When you put your life on the line every day you are paying taxes.

It's a leftist position to give someone working a break on taxes? I don't risk my life for the public in my job and I wouldn't. If they get exempted from taxes given their risk and their modest salary, I say fine.

Then no government employee would pay taxes.

We've been worshipping mentally ill Trannies for the past 4 years, I suppose if we are to replace them with Firefighters on the marble pedestal, I'm okay with that

When it’s selective, yes. That increases government power.

I don’t know if he even said this and if he did it’s extremely unlikely that he’d follow through, but watching people defend it is bizarre.

Tax breaks are and have been selective. Marital status, number of kids, types of investments all have selective tax breaks.

And does that give the government more power or less?

Harris could float the same bullshite with the exact same logic but say it’s for covid nurses or teachers or DMV workers. Somehow I don’t think it would be received the same way here.

Have fun paying higher taxes to make up for the tax loss from cops & firefighters

850,000 cops in the US, $60K salary, $12,000 tax revenue per cop…. That’s roughly $10 billion.

Total income tax revenue is roughly $2.5 trillion annually. $10 billion is 0.5% of $2.5 trillion.

So theoretically we’d have 0.5% of our annual income tax revenue to cover. Aka a drop in the bucket.

To provide perspective, we spent $113 billion on food stamps in 2023.

Oh and the most commonly purchased item with food stamps is soft drinks (per Google). (Probably adds a little to Medicaid costs)
