Most people have no idea what President Trump’s new election-mail Executive Order USPS rule actually does.
1. Plain English: it creates a chain-of-custody system for mail ballot envelopes in federal elections.
2. Not the vote, the envelope.
3. Under the proposed USPS rule, states using mail-in or absentee ballots for federal elections would have to use standardized ballot envelopes:
-Official Election Mail logo
-Automation-compatible design
-Unique Intelligent Mail barcode
-USPS review of envelope/barcode placement
4. That means the ballot envelope becomes trackable.
5. States or election mailers would also submit key data through a USPS portal:
-Voter name
-Voter address
-Outbound envelope barcode
-Return envelope barcode
-Originating election office state
6. So officials can know: this ballot envelope was sent out, and this return envelope came back.
7. USPS would review outbound ballot mail before accepting it.
-Is it in the right envelope?
-Does it have the proper barcode?
-Is it going to someone enrolled on that state’s mail-
ballot participation list?
8. If not, the mailing goes back to the election mailer to fix.
9. The broader Executive Order also directs DHS + SSA to help create State Citizenship Lists using federal citizenship, naturalization, SSA, SAVE, and related data.
10. Those lists go to state election officials before federal elections.
11. Important: states still run voter registration. The federal list does not register anyone by itself.
12. Bottom line: this is not “tracking your vote.”
13. It tracks the envelope, creates a sent-vs-returned audit trail, helps flag discrepancies, preserves ballot-envelope records, and leaves states responsible for their voter rolls.
14. Chain of custody is not suppression. It is basic election accountability.
15. I used “proposed rule” because USPS has not finalized the rule yet.
16. The proposal says it applies to general, special, and runoff federal elections, not primaries or UOCAVA military/overseas ballots, and it requires unique barcodes on outbound and return envelopes.
17. The rule would require voter name/address plus outbound and return envelope barcode data through a USPS portal, with updates allowed until the last day ballots may be mailed under state law.
18. It also says USPS does not alter voter eligibility or manage state voter rolls.
19. The EO separately directs DHS/SSA to create State Citizenship Lists and directs DOJ enforcement and five-year preservation of participation records, excluding cast ballots.
20. There is one more thing it does, all I'll say is, watch out ballot mills.

I’m in favor of shutting down the USPS entirely instead. It would take Congress to accomplish that, so I’m aware it will never happen.

This sounds pretty well thought out, and seems completely within the regulatory authority of the USPS

That would be a fun jobs report.

It's awesome that he is doing this. It's sad that he has to because Congress won't get off of their arse and do their fricking job.

It's be ome clear to me that there are alot of Republicans that would rather sale the idea that they're fighting than to actually win because the Save Act would absolutely be checkmate

POTUS Trump is setting a new standard for POTUS accomplishments in the future. People who desire to be POTUS are pissed because now they will be required to make outstanding decisions and work hard as hell to Keep America Great Eternally (KAGE)!!

Any kind of election integrity measures you can bet Democrats are against it.

How soon before a woke judge stops it?
USPS has always been shady and inefficient. Was not a fan of the union for USPS workers coming out in support of biden in 2020. An election that had the largest amount of mail-in votes ever, had the employees responsible for delivering and receiving those mail-in votes supporting one of the candidates.
Some police unions supported Trump in 2020, if those officers were responsible for delivering and receiving ballots, we'd see judges stepping in and somehow putting temporary stops to that. We'd have seen msm talk about how it's impossible to have a secure a fair election if the entity responsible for delivering and receiving the ballots are in support for one of the candidates.

It’s an Executive Order that can just be reversed by the next administration. This is meaningless.

Have to say I’m against anything that could suppress the ability to vote.
Groups that rely heavily on mail-in voting (rural voters, overseas/military, shift workers, people with mobility issues) face the most friction from any new requirement. Even small added hurdles reduce turnout.

Mail should run 5 days a week or even 4. Give them Wednesday off. If I ran a business that was losing massive amounts of money every year, I would change something. Common sense
Government makes me sick

Then you should be in favor of enhanced voter integrity since nothing suppresses the vote more than people thinking their vote won’t matter because it’s a rigged election due to mail fraud.

For a mail in ballot...
Where the onus is on the offices responsible for printing, issuing and receiving/counting ballots...
The involvement of the end user will not change:
Request mail in ballot
Receive mail in ballot
Complete mail in ballot
Place mail in ballot into envelope
Place mail in ballot into the mail...
Ah, wait... there it is... the voter has to request it. That is the daunting requirement that will reduce turnout.
For frick's sake...

Voting security is not suppression.
And by the way, it wouldn't be needed if leftists policies hadn't transformed the U.S. into a low trust society.

It’s not meaningless if the theory - that democrats cheating is on such a large scale that they cannot win a national election without it - is correct. Implement this and democrats won’t be in a position to change the EO until they completely overhaul their party.
At least that’s the theory.
