Look, I get it. There’s plenty of blame to go around. But our government is functioning exactly as intended. Both republican and Democrat voters love entitlements. There Is huge bipartisan support for those programs. Neither side is going to cut them
Not to sound cynical but I’ve always viewed entitlements as giveaways so that we can go about living our lives without the lower class disrupting society until it can no longer function.

Not everyone understands the role of government in society.

Missing assumptions over growth affect the debt servicing costs even more. It compounds them.

Trump should have gone infrastructure instead of tax cuts in my opinion
He tried but Paul Ryan did not want to address it because he knew that Trump would support a fuel tax increase. Now Nancy will not let him get a victory before the election.

You are a democrat. Your opinion does not count.

We have a revenue problem
Always the go-to for the Democrats: We need to raise taxes so we can spend more!

States still can.
And Boomers started hitting medicare age about 11 years ago, they're gonna start dying off. More and more meds are generic, but still have to reign in drug prices and get rid of these bullshite PBM's that have helped a 2000% price hike in that time despite the promise they'd bring it down. Mandate the healthcare and pharmacy benefits are paid from the same pocket. There's a disconnect now. Medicare part D plans and prescription insurers do what's best for them, not what's best overall. They can't keep cutting reimbursement to providers while demanding more and piling on more paper work. It's unsustainable. There's waaaaay more than enough money spent on "healthcare" but far too much goes to administrative costs. Medicaid is abused and misused. Very inefficient. A dentist get $100 to clean teeth, but a doctor will only get $70 tops for a high level complex patient with a life threatening acute issue and numerous comorbid conditions. So, no one takes it. They get their primary care at ER's and urgent cares. Need more personal responsibility and accountability on the pt's part. It's insanity. I can go on for days.

Hey I know we have a spending problem. But there is also the anticipation of a growth problem or revenue.
Then we need to broaden the tax base. Period. Everyone needs to pay their fair share.

Sad it will take 15 years to balance the budget.
Then the green new deal dems come along....just to make it a certainty America folds

Ike was right.
Just read his farewell address for the first time. Wow.
quote:
Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.
The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present--and is gravely to be regarded.

He needs to freeze all spending at current rates, including military, until each department can present a strong case for exemption. Trump needs to be the CEO here. We can't survive on current spending. Make them earn it.

The treasury has had several record months are far as revenue goes since the tax cuts. Revenue isnt the problem. Spending is the problem

quote:So, he’s reducing spending by 65% next year?
Trump's budget is $2.7T in spending cuts

Did anybody read the link?

But the president’s budget takes aim at government spending by calling for a 5 percent reduction in nondefense discretionary spending that will keep the budget under statutory spending caps. With the proposals included in the request for Congress, projections indicate the budget would be balanced by 2034, according to the Office of Management and Budget.
Five percent budget reductions and Washington goes ape shite.
We are truly fricked.
