Things would be going better for Trump if he was performing better. The Iran was is deeply unpopular outside of the MAGA base and is a big driver in his ratings tanking. The appearances of self enrichment don't help his case either. And mostly forgotten but the sloppy tariff roll out last year and the dumb trade wars with places like Canada aren't helping.
This isn't a matter of the country moving left. It's a matter of Trump shooting himself in the foot. He did all of this to himself.
