Won't pass muster in Court.
Maybe if it only applies to federal elections.

Such a common sense thing.
Glad to see DJT to do it and at the same time what a sad, ridiculous reflection of our country in the year 2025 that it takes an EO to implement a common sense measure.

This one is going to get interesting. Not sure it survives USSC.
They’ll have to explain why it’s necessary to show ID to check out a library book and board a plane if the USSC rules against.

Trump says he will order voter ID requirement for every vote
The president and his Republican allies also have made baseless claims about widespread voting by non-citizens, which is illegal and rarely occurs.
This is how this headline is read on reuters for instance. It's still indefensible; even if what youre saying is true, why would you care then?
Theres no argument you can formulate against it logically.

I think its obvious that certain election processes in one state can definitely affect the citizens of other states. I don’t even think that the vast majority of Americans even understand this wall of separation and assume that national elections are national in fact and in essence, and not processes of the individual states.
I think we SHOULD have one set of standards for voting in national elections.
I don't disagree, but that's not the system we have now, and a federal EO shouldn't be able to change the Constitution.

What’s the remedy if a state has lax rules and even less oversight?
A Constitutional amendment or the voters of that state changing things via democratic action

Congress should address it.
This is currently beyond even Congress.

No. They won't. You're talking about 3 different systems are multiple levels of government.

Cool. Too bad we don't have a Congress that could actually pass legislation.

Do you think they care? All those social/political/optics considerations are completely irrelevant. Legally, an EO won't stand up in court.

I doubt this will pass constitutional muster, but the system will work it out as designed.
It will do a lot to draw attention to the voting fraud issue, which is good.

The problem is we don’t have a single election. Technically speaking we have 51 elections that are then added up from there. Will need to go to the Supreme Court.

Therein lies the rub.... how can this be accomplished without verifying voters and ballots?

No, he just tried to make a stupid “gotcha” argument. Federal elections should be subject to federal standards. It disenfranchises voters in conservative states that have voter ID requirements when blue states have zero election safeguards.
