Trump vows to make Spain pay

Nah. First, that’s unlikely to happen. Second, they would still benefit from being surrounded by NATO.
Add a tariff fee to their trade that’s commensurate to 7% of their GDP.
5% for NATO and a 2% penalty fee for refusing to pay your NATO bill.
We’ll use their money to provide their security - which will never be needed - and make some money too.

They should just prorate the help that Spain would get in the event of a conflict. Problem solved. Don't pay your fair share, get your fair share when you need it. Kinda like co-insurance.

I've not seen that but our 3.4% of our GDP is an enormus amount of money compared to these other economies.
