Isn't Mexico going to provide assistance to California?

How many times have they had the opportunity to become a state now and haven't? It is tough to help ones that don't help themselves. They island needs bulldozed and turned into a resort. Most Puerto Rican's will probably just move to the mainland anyways.

I'm pretty sure someone sitting in the dark in a storm-ravaged country is going to interpret his tweet as a "frick you"

Fair enough?

But I thought electricity and cell services were down in most of PR, how are they seeing these Tweets?

Oh, people certainly are starting to see peoples' true colors, that's why so many Democrats have lost their jobs over the last 8 years.

The good Mayor in between cranking out T-shirts has kept them informed.

So will PR learn from this and bury their lines in the future or just string 'em up on poles again in hoping it'll be another 50-60 years before they might have to face this situation again?

Burying lines really isn't the best solution in flood prone areas with low density. It costs a small fortune and the flood waters will still damage underground lines.

This is so stupid. And my views of Trump are not favorable whatsoever. I wish we would stop fighting stupidity with more stupidity.

A referendum on the political status of Puerto Rico was held in Puerto Rico on June 11, 2017.[1] The referendum had three options: becoming a state of the United States, independence/free association, or maintaining the current territorial status.[2] Those who voted overwhelmingly chose statehood by 97%; turnout, however, was 23%, a historically low figure.[3] This figure is attributed to a boycott led by the pro-status quo PPD party.[4]

You realize that doesn't disprove his point, right? That referendum doesn't equal choice.

Did Baton Rouge residents learn from last year's flood and decided to rebuild destroyed homes away from the flood zones, or did they put them right back where they were hoping it will be another 50-60 years before they might face this situation again?

So California is now a far higher priority, by your standards, than Lousiana. Just want to put that on the record.

And a physician discussing the diagnosis and prognosis of a deadly disease with a patient would also be "right" if he said, "well you're not going to live forever anyways."

Or a teacher telling parents of children with severe physical and intellectual disabilities children and their families that "they're probably not going to learn a lot more if I actually teach them than if I play games on my phone. Besides they're probably going to a financial burden on the taxpayer anyways."

But hey if the physician and teacher are right, then it's all good.

Trump's comments are spot on and I for one am glad he's making them publicly.

I actually don't mind the comments about the poor infrastructure that was in place, but I think the "FEMA can't stay forever" was pointless and counterproductive.

Has he said the same thing about Texas or Florida or the VI?

FEMA still has an office in NOLA. 12 years after Katrina.

One thing that needs to come out of all of this is a clearer definition of PR's relationship with the US. I would like to see them become a state and they should pay federal income tax.

Otherwise, we ought to consider letting them be truly independent.

Then what do you call the millions of Obama voters in the rust belt and nationwide who chose Trump?

Keep calling Trump voters racist, I'm sure it'll be a winning hand for you at some point.
