um, the large operations are the ones that are gonna get the bulk of the aid; going to row crop farmers, it'll be based on base acreage in federal programs; in other words, corporate farms finna eat

That's how it was during Trump 1.0.

It is kind of bizarre that the articles and headlines being written about this round of subsidies are exactly the same as those written back in July of 2018. In fact, you can just read those articles from then and know all you need to know. It is the exact same ad hoc farm subsidy in response to tariff fallout that it was then, even the same dollar amount of $12 billion.

High inflation under Biden—reaching a 40-year peak—drove up costs for fertilizer, fuel, feed, and equipment, squeezing farm margins. From May 2021 to May 2022, overall input costs rose 15%, with fertilizer prices up 77% year-over-year.

Inflation from Trump's Covid spending. Biden's big spending hadn't hit the system yet

So yeah, you don't have anything

I watched a soybean farmer on YT talk about how much he is going to make on his harvest compared to Biden. That the tariffs didn't cost him like the liberals kept messaging him about. So if true, why this aid package?

Farmers are already heavily subsidized from what I understand.

The better solution is, clearly, to rely on foreign nations to feed your people.

Or, just stop pushing inflationary policies.

These soybean farmers want their market back. Specifically, they want to be able to sell to China. Trump is paying the farmers off just like he did last time.

Soybean prices are prices fairly decent well over $10.50 a bushel. Thats a good price I think the problem has been with countries coming in and buying them. I don’t have any beans so I don’t know for sure their situation. As far as other crops rice prices have been the lowest in 40 years. 18 months ago they were $27 a bbl and now they around $16 a bbl.

This is a direct result of Trump's asinine tariffs on China.

Try again.

China is sitting on a surplus of soybeans and soybean meal because they changed their feed regulations and Brazil produces soybeans cheaper than us. It’s really quite simple.

Rice is in bad shape here in the USA, but it’s not all tariff related like the Dems and Trump haters want us to believe.

quote:

The Philippines’ 60-day rice import ban, implemented on September 1, 2025, represents a pivotal moment for regional agricultural markets and global commodity dynamics. This policy, aimed at shielding local farmers from collapsing palay prices, has sparked debates about short-term volatility, long-term strategic risks, and the broader implications for food security in Southeast Asia. For investors, the move underscores the delicate balance between protecting domestic producers and maintaining affordable food supplies, while also reshaping trade flows and tariff structures across ASEAN.

quote:

The ban’s ripple effects extend beyond the Philippines. As the world’s largest rice importer, the country’s reduced demand could disrupt ASEAN export markets. Vietnam, which supplied 80–85% of Philippine rice imports in 2024, faces a potential surplus, while Thailand and Cambodia may see increased competition from India, which recently lifted its broken rice export ban. will reveal how trade partners adapt.

Chinese tariffs on US soybeans doesn't help. Add to that, they(China) didn't buy any through the majority of this year. This is what wackytimes was referring to.

Yes sorry I should have phrased it better. Rice prices are in the gutter because of a global surplus. Other countries over dumping rice that has been piled up. The market it saturated

Tariffs didn't matter in this instance.

It was simple supply and demand.

I'm just fearful that the seed and chemical companies are going to raise their prices knowing this bailout is coming.

When the rest of the world subsidizes their farmers that sell into our market at a discount, we need to protect our food source.

However, anyone depleting our aquifers growing corn to sell to china should not get aid.
