It’s classless. It’s a shame too, he could have been great. The nan doesn’t know when to shut up.

I was thinking the exact thing earlier. Why say anything?

They media also said awful things about Colin Powell when he was on the side they didnt like
And Colin Powell never had anything nice to say about Trump. How many of these establishment GOP’ers ever said anything supportive of Trump?
And you expect him to play nice?

Point to any previous statement by a former President of any party so tacky and classless.
Barack Obama saying that "I could have gone through ROTC but it was beneath me."
Barack Obama inserting himself directly into the Zimmerman Case.
Barack Obama saying "if you own and run a small business...you didn't build that"
George W. Bush impugning the service of a veteran critical of him just months ago and calling him a domestic terrorist
I'm sure there are more but you would have to get Xingping's peepee out of your mouth long enough to look.

I’ll wait.
Should I link every time Obama opens his mouth?

None of these things are as tacky as unnecessarily shitting on a dead man's legacy one day after he dies.
Y'all are right though. Some day when his number is up the left and the media will be ruthless in how they memorialize him, and he will have earned every word of it.

You sound like you eat cock for breakfast. A piece of human debris that would have ZERO concern about your kids being killed in some war so he could make a few million more when he "retired" doesn't deserve one ounce of sympathy, respect, or consideration before they die, the day they die, or the day after they die.
Besides the fact that Trump can't shite on Powell's legacy anymore than he shite on it himself.

I'm not a fan of Powell because he is part of the reason that millions of innocent Iraqi's are dead. But what Trump said about the dead here is unforgivable. Anyone that would even consider voting for him after that statement needs to have their head checked out.

You are the type who votes for Richard Blumenthal even after he lies about being a Vietnam Veteran.

The Trump idolatry in this forum is alarming. I mean, it’s perfectly ok to admit that Trump fricked up (again) here.

Yet this is the problem. Trump could have said nothing, and in the process wouldn't have offered any sympathy, respect, or consideration at all. Given that other former presidents are all releasing statements, his silence could have sent a deafening, yet relatively dignified, message as to his thoughts.
But he didn't. He had to be tacky and speak ill of the dead. This statement may not lose him a single vote among his base, but it surely won't gain him any outside of it.

Like Trump's comment, completely unnecessary. Your position on Powell's legacy is valid, but you apparently don't know how to engage in reasonable discourse. It's unfortunate.

Idolatry? Hardly. We just revel in the misery of the left. We can no longer find an elected official that's actually going to make things better so we appreciate the fact that he makes their (and conceivably your) lives miserable.

Reasonable discourse ended in 2016 when YOUR candidate stated that anyone who would vote against her was irredeemable in the eyes of God and would burn in hell. Since then, your mouthpieces in the mainstream media have basically said that anyone who voted for Trump is a terrorist who should be executed.

The truth hurts especially after you die. Put him next to McCain that turd.

No, you should point to specific statements made by former Presidents of any party that are so tacky and classless. I'll start things off with some examples of Democrats taking the high road:
Biden White House on the death of Rush Limbaugh:
quote:
“I know the news just came out in just the last hour, I’m not sure if we will release a statement.
Certainly his condolences go out to the family and friends of Rush Limbaugh who, of course, have lost him today. I don’t know that I anticipate a statement from the president. I can certainly pass on his condolences and expression of support for the family.”
Kamala Harris on the death of Antonin Scalia:
quote:
“In his three decades on the Supreme Court, Justice Scalia left a lasting impression on American jurisprudence,” she said in a statement. “Even those of us who vigorously disagreed with his views recognized the power of his intellect.”
Barack Obama on the death of Scalia:
quote:
“For almost 30 years, Justice Antonin ‘Nino’ Scalia was a larger than life presence on the bench. A brilliant legal mind with an energetic style, an incisive wit and colorful opinions. He influenced a generation of judges, lawyers and students, and profoundly shaped the legal landscape. He will no doubt be remembered as one of the most consequential judges and thinkers to serve on the Supreme Court…. Obviously today is a time to remember Justice Scalia’s legacy. I plan to fulfill my constitutional responsibilities to nominate a successor in due time. There will be plenty of time for me to do so and for the senate to fulfill its responsibility to give that person a fair hearing and a timely vote. These are responsibilities that I take seriously, as should everyone. They’re bigger than any one party. They are about our democracy, they are about the institution to which justice Scalia dedicated his professional life, and making sure it continues to function as the beacon of justice that our founders envisioned.”
In lieu of a statement like that, Trump could have kept his mouth shut.
