If I'm DeSantis, I tell Trump that I'll drop out of the race if my polling doesn't improve after a one-on-one debate, Trump v. DeSantis where the candidates take turns raising the issues and a moderator's only purpose is to keep candidates from talking out of turn.

"You want me to drop out, then beat me head-to-head first."

Is there a point or some benchmark at which you believe Desantis should cut his losses and look to his future? Or no matter what the consensus of polls seem to suggest, say just a little more in the future (hypothetical scenario here), would it be your advice to continue to the bitter end regardless of any “numbers?”

Nobody is running from Trump's endorsement. We're just not pretending it changed the general. It helped RDS get the primary win.

And thank God Trump helped Ron over the finish line to beat crackhead.

You ever stop to think maybe it was Trump dragging him down and that made the election close?

Yeah, after Super Tuesday, if he has very little chance of winning.

If you're him, there is no chance you drop out pre_Iowa, SC, Nevada, NH.

He's focusing his entire game on those 4 states, national polls are meaningless.

I think it would have been a guaranteed 12 years with a Republican in the WH. Now we don’t know what we will get.

I'm in my mid 30s. In my lifetime, we will never see 12 straight years of Republican presidency again.

When it’s mathematically impossible for him to win.

At what point should Trump cut his losses and look to his future? I’m guessing since he’s already at life expectancy and is facing multiple criminal proceedings, he doesn’t have much concern for the future. Just the type of guy we want for President!

I don't even understand the relevance.

Trump by his own admission said that he "didn't know who Ron was" and "just decided one day because he asked for an endorsement, ok I'll do it". He had no idea who Ron was and didn't do anything else to help him.

Somehow that means that Ron Desantis, 7 years later, cannot even fathom running for office against him...

But Nikki Haley and Mike Pence, who were key members of HIS OWN ADMINISTRATION can?

I mean come on

If DeSantis can win Florida by 20 and Youngkin can win light blue Virginia, it’s definitely possible if we run the right candidates.

Debatable. You could make a strong argument that without Trump DeSantis beats Gillum by more.

Yep.

Trump is good at pushing candidates over the line in primaries. I don't recall any where the GOP candidate won a seriously contested general election due to his support.

Loads of examples of his candidates underperforming other GOP candidates by 10 when on the same ballot.

I'm not so sure. Youngkin's win was due to the backlash against the trans insanity in schools. That issue will eventually go away as we win the ideological fight. Another issue will pop up, sure, but will it have as monolithic support from Democrat politicians like the trans issue does? I doubt it.

Trump’s right. DJT will be the nominee. But he will have to destroy Desantis in the process. Look at ol Lyin Ted Cruz and Little Marco Rubio - careers destroyed by Trump. Desantis will be another unfortunate casualty

Which makes sense. Like it or not he is the head of the party and has even more of a dedicated following than Obama did. However, those not in the GOP and those who don't follow politics, even normal Republican voters, hate him. I think that hate is undeserved and Trump was a great President but for every blue collar nominal democrat voter he pulls in he loses 2 normal GOP voters.

I honestly wish that wasn't the case but it is.

Totally sane behavior.

Definitely beneficial to the United States of America.

Let DeSantis spend more of his donors money. He’s not gonna win and he should get out.

Should Vivek get out? What about Nikki Haley? Tim Scott? Mike Pence? Burgum?

Should Trump just run unopposed? Its his turn, right?

Not his turn but he’s dominating all of them. Yes they shouldn’t be running because they have no chance.
