Hamas is not serious about ending the war. The US should just walk away and tell Israel to do whatever they want. We should wash our hands of the matter.

Huge poli board lurker and first time participant, so excuse me in advance for my ignorance.
As I see it, it is and always have been about the hostages.
My take is, If Hamas doesn't comply by the deadline and if the POTUS gives the go-ahead, this probably doesn't bode well for the remaining hostages, I hope I'm wrong.

Maybe so, but there will never be a lasting peace in that part of the world. Only God knows when that is to come.

We don't really know how many are alive or what condition they're in. If they haven't given them up at this point, chances are there is no arrangement in which they will give them up. War is hell.

Why is Trump legitimizing Hamas by negotiating with them. Hamas is not the legitimate government of Gaza, they are a terrorist organization that took authority by force and intimidation away from the legitimate government.

The majority of hostages remains are dead. What makes you think any hostages are safe, if Hamas is given more time. Clear them out and make Palestine safe for the make believe Palestinians?

I don’t think he negotiated with Hamas, he negotieted with the surrounding Mid East countries, they had to sign off on any agreement. Now that he has that support for a peace plana and they are all trying to get Hamas on board, the next step is easy. The entire world provided a pathway for a peace plan in Gaza and they still said no. Fine, now they finish the job and build peace without hamas present and in the picture.
I did forget, Hamas does have support from the Democratic Party, so there is that.
