Widespread fraud?

There are federal and state criminal laws against SNAP fraud.

If there is widespread fraud, then where are the widespread arrests?

Not entirely against it, but that will be a systematic nightmare.

Who gives a flying shite?

Maybe it will make 95% of those getting benefits to actually make an effort to work like the people that are paying for them to be lazy pieces of shite.

If they go hungry for a week or two, good for them.

No one is going hungry in America. We are too fat as a country.

What happened to just giving them food ? Not money to buy food. Just a box of beans an rice ?

How in the world is a thief going to make a buck carving 20-30% from a box of rice or beans?

Im not a Trump guy but I’m fine with this. I think we can shave some money here from people who fell through the cracks.

Imagine bitching about something you already get for free to prevent fraud. You’ll never hear a Snapper say “know what, this is a great idea to prevent future occurrences of fraud. Count me in!”

I’m applying for everything and lying about how much I make. Nothing ever happens to people committing fraud!

as it should be - they don't have productive jobs or other beneficial activities - no reason to make damn sure they qualify under stringent rules.

There are also significant privacy laws that make it nearly impossible for anyone but the states to audit, and then there are laws that require states to repay their federal share when fraud is discovered…so the only ones that can audit the fraud are incentivized to avoid any findings.

Recertification already happens...

Yet we still have a bunch of waste and fraud. I have a feeling re-applying is going to be different than being renewed or re-certified as an existing SNAP recipient already in the system.

I agree that we still have a bunch of waste and fraud however demanding that the states do something they are already doing is little more than a talking point for the Sunday politics shows. I expect lots of "Yes Sir, we are on it!" .......following by the same recertification schedule they have been doing for years.

No, it's going to be the same, eligibility for SNAP is determined by the states, this is much ado about nothing.
