Geez. Your simply not paying attention.
They cannot be "better than humans at everything" by the end of 2027.
There are obvious physical limitations to what they can do at this time. Why does everyone look at this like a Terminator movie?

Wild to see how fast all this popped off.

Doesn't matter. Doesn't change anything., in fact it's telling that a person claiming to be knowledgeable about AI doesn’t see whats coming.
I'm not sure what you mean here. My first point was that if AI is going to kill us, then it's only a matter of when. Because it's impossible that anyone is really going to stop research.
It's about like thinking gun laws are going to prevent gun crimes. It's just no where near a realistic way of looking at things.
And given that reality, I think have people armed with the best weapons themselves is the best defense.

Your probably "training " an AI agent on one specific purpose. Eventually, and rapidly AI's will achieve exponentially greater abilities. There is no unplugging AI at that point. AI will be rooted in all facets of the world economies. Shipping, banking, health care, energy, etc.
Yeah, that's basically how it works. It's not like a dog and a fish are going to team up to take over the world just because they are both biological entities. The dog is going to do dog things, the fish is going to do fish things.
I'm not saying other things aren't possible, near anything is possible. But that's not how things are done because it would be a waste of resources to have a model doing specific jobs while also having all the other stuff. This idea that AI are going to be sitting around talking to each other is again like a dog and fish conspiring together.
A much more likely scenario is one AI attacks a shipping, banking or whatever and the only way you'll be able to combat it is with your own AI.

It's basically impossible for us to imagine how and when something vastly more intelligent than we are will take on its own priorities.
Which it continues to demonstrate that it has it's own ideas and agendas. Spend some time and listen to the Rogan podcast below. This isn't the only person talking about this. It's truly terrifying.
It doesn't have it's own priorities. When you see these experiments and things people do, they are using prompts to tell the AI to act that way. It's like - you are Hitler, tell me what you would do. And then the headline is "AI wants to kill 6 million Jews".
It's just trying to figure out the response you want and that is most relevant to the prompt you gave it. That's it's priority.

AI CEOs have the power to slow development already.
They don't need Trump.
This is what is so comical.
Mr. President we are approaching trillions of dollars in investment, but we beg of you stop us from making any return off our investment..................................Well cant you just stop investing money? Well uh, yeah, but uh.....I wanna blame you when I make skads of money, its not my fault, the president did not stop me.
What kind of friggin logic does that make, some people are just idiots.

Yes it is. This stuff is still in its infancy. New generations are developed like every 12 days and it's capability increases on an exponential curve. Give it another year and it will be...well, it's hard to say what it will be.

Awesome. All the nonsense is cause Dem/Anthropic CEO wants alll the regulations
And we have a winner.
We forget during the biden mess they invited the top tech companies into discuss the future.....and left out Elon. The premise was, we will pick the winners, you dont comply and the regulations will rain upon you like locusts.
Sounds eerily familiar to msm, internet social media......hmmmm.

Between this and the advent of quantum computing there will be a lot of money to be made for people who develop the systems to bridge these gaps. And the crazy thing is that you can use AI to build the tools.

AI should be seen as no different than a gun.
Terrible analogy. A gun is inanimate and only an extension of the person holding it.
AI is.....even in it's early stages, able to think, plan, lie manipulate. It will soon be smarter than all humans combined and will have the ability to rewrite it's own code, which will potentially create something that we don't understand in the way an ant doesn't understand a human.

Lmao!!! By that time, AI will have already considered ALL possibilities and be so entrenched in world economics that "severing the power lines" would bring the world economy to a stand still.
I said would be a big price.
But humans are built to run without electricity.
99% of our existence has been without it.
AI, not so much.

I guess quantum computing is supposed to ruin security unless we do some upgrades.
I brute force cracked AOL accounts back in the 90s. I would collect accounts like trophies. I preyed on accounts with weak passwords.
A comparison to that would be me throwing a rock vs someone dropping the sun on you. The brute force power is incredible.
Supposedly people are working on it.

Consider 2 situations
The a/I model learns how to self regulate/learn/decide that population growth is bad and causes famine in the next 6 months
One million goat f-ckers in the Middle East with computer hacking skills decide that airlines need to drop out of the sky to earn their 72 virgins using technology that existed last month. Think stuknet.
Which possibility is real? I think they both are.
Only one thing will avoid catastrophe.....building values into A/I logic that support mankind

In all fairness to Hitler, he would’ve gotten all of them if he had ChatGPT

His logic on this is valid.
- AI is becoming a strategically transformative technology.
- China is also pursuing frontier AI aggressively.
If the U.S. slows down substantially while China continues, China could gain the lead.
- Whoever achieves the decisive advantage in AI could gain enormous economic, military, intelligence and technological advantages.
- Therefore, the U.S. should not voluntarily surrender its lead by slowing development unilaterally.
The question as to whether it is sound or not is only determined by whether or not the US can use its lead in the AI race to leverage cooperation with the Chinese and set the rules of the AI race. You either need to figure a way for both countries to slow their pace of development together, or go full speed ahead. There is no middle ground.

Like China is going to slow down.
No way.
No way.

Sure. I guess what I was getting at though is that it's essentially an open industry at this point. There are many things the average person could do to acquire a slice of the pie for themselves right now without much effort. It's all a matter of how well you can talk to your AI agent.

A gun is a tool used for defense.
The AI responds to a prompt. When you see and read these experiments, they are telling the AI to act that way. What would you do if you were this and this happened type prompts. People are assigning the AI a role to fill. And yes, it will fill that role. So if you made the AI and told it to do those things then it might try to do such.
It's like the youtube videos of the different AIs playing the game "Among Us" where you try to figure out who is the murderer. Those are all given roles and told what they are doing and what the goal is. And then it plays the game, they chat back and forth trying to fool each other, etc.
But they were given that role and told to do so.
And every model is going to be a reflection of the data and things trained on. Which is mostly human and that is what the AI is imitating - human behavior in a human role.
Aside from that, I think people are just humanizing them too much. Like the AI are going to form an alliance or something - why? What motivation or reason would exist for that? Nothing, other than a prompt telling it too.
Here's what I find scary about AI. Those big computers are used for training, but the trained model runs on much smaller hardware because once it's trained, it doesn't really change. That means it has no conscious, no remorse, and if it is told/trained to kill people, it will do that in the most effective way it possible can. It will never see itself in error, it will only chase it's goal. Because it doesn't continue training, it won't learn anything different. It won't get tired of it.
And it's also like fricking with a genie when it comes to rewards. Careful what you wish for.
That's what scares me about AI more so than some LLM plot to take over the world.
