Often politicians lie outright, like Biden saying "my son has done nothing wrong," or "I never discussed business with my son," or "I never absconded classified government documents, then tossed them on the floor of my garage," or "it was a loan repayment."
Sometimes though, they simply seize on facts favorable to their arguments. That is what happened here. Sorry it rustled your jimmies. Get over it.

I paid $2.39 for gas yesterday so there’s no way he’s seeing that even in the most expensive places.

Trump is running for president, and gas prices were much lower during his presidency. Cheaper everywhere, by a significant margin. He wants to get back to that.

If the national average is $3.10 you have near half the states that’s average is higher than that. Meaning there are a lot of places paying more than you are.
And doesn’t account for all the gas bought the previous months.
It’s kind of crazy you guys harp on this when the current president lied to Native Americans about playing lacrosse because he’s a racist old dirt bag.
