Life for the petulant, ungrateful step-kids sucks when the rich step-father gets tired of being taken advantage of. There will be screams from every other country in the world bemoaning the US for being a "bully". Unfortunately for them, you can throw your weight around at the negotiating table when you're the richest and most well defended nation on planet earth.

That's how it should be. One-time payouts in times of need may be one thing but we give money, year after year, to countries who spit in our face and offer us nothing but grief in return. We should be more judicious with our charity.
