Are you retarded? If he’s no longer in office he has no reason to have clearance.

You didn't give a damn about security clearances until yesterday.

They shouldnt have security clearances after leaving office anyway. People get security clearances because of their position within government. When they leave their government position, then there’s no reason for them to keep a security clearance anymore. What reason is there for a private sector employee or a CNN contributor have a top secret security clearance?

Brennan does not influence policy becomes he is a former or ex national security advisor. He doesn't have the need to know as a private citizen. It's that simple.

I can’t believe that this has been allowed at all. So much wrong and very little positive results for maintaining clearance. This revelation should cause the general public to demand a change.
It reminds me of other government policies that, once the public was made aware, that it boggled the mind:
Insider trading by members of Congress that is illegal for peons. ( I think has since been changed)
Slush fund to pay for Congressional members sexual misconduct.
Health insurance plans only available to Congress, while forcing Obamacare on us.

Any doubt Trump and friends get their clearance revoked/threatened if the next president is a petulant bitch like Trump?
Why would Trump need security clearance when he is no longer President? Why do you think Brennan needs clearance now?

What would he care? He’s got an admin to run he doesn’t GAF if Bolton has a security clearance in 2027.
And if Bolton gets back on Fox news and starts blasting the next prez as a traitor, he should hae his clearance denied.

Carrier pigeon talking points went out, I see. Not enough room for additional text explaining how?

Seriously. Common sense tells anyone with a brain that it's only asking for trouble or compromise of some sort.

Please don't hurt your brain thinking.

Probably. But, if you don't work for the govt anymore, you shouldn't have a security clearance anyway so I don't care.

I cant believe my security clearance was revoked after I moved to the private sector. My free speech was destroyed...

t risk by Boatshoes There is no excuse for someone who has left government service to maintain a security clearance, I don't care who the hell you are or what side of the aisle you come from.
It should be government policy that any person holding high level security clearances shall be currently employed by the federal government, with the exception of people who were previously on staff or holding elected office during the transitional period of an incoming administration. You leave the federal government your clearance leaves with you. If there is some vital reason that an ex employee of the government must retain clearance then a security clearance body has to grant the extension.

As someone that works with the government as a contractor, security clearances are important if you are performing continuing work and/or consulting. Think Banks of former counter-measures experts, former intelligence operatives and former state department employees are an important component in maintaining national security. In test and evaluation of technologies, missiles, ISR systems, etc.., former government employees of research labs and test ranges are hired by private industry to help companies develop and test these technologies and systems. They may be engaged in secret level data acquisition.
Contractors that develop, install and support cyber warfare systems need to maintain their clearance.
There are a myriad of reasons for security clearances that go beyond "working for the government". That said, if I were a thorn in the side of the current administration, I wouldn't be too surprised to lose my clearance. I do not wish to see revoking clearances used as a political bludgeon, but if former government officials are actively engaged in leaks, or undermining the authority of the administration, I support pulling their clearances.
The only reason to maintain a clearance is to serve or perform a service for the country. If you aren't doing that, you don't deserve a clearance.
