best idea I've seen - get the ball rolling there - concentrate on money transfers - see who squawks.

Meh. I don't think the cartels reaction would be so stupid. They wouldn't want to escalate any action by the US. I'm not saying they would quit, but they aren't stupid.

Most of them are very smart. They know this is the one thing not to do lest you, your family and entire operation will be hunted down and removed permanently. They would most likely lay low and bide their time.

Again this would show Mexico’s hand.

There is a MUCH bigger picture in play here, economically speaking. Mexico shares time zones, geographic proximity, a border, etc. with us and would be a fantastic replacement for China.
The obstacle is the cartels/instability. We can’t establish Mexico’s manufacturing base until they’re gone and things are stable.
The Mexican gov’t isn’t going to kill their golden goose unless they have a guaranteed bigger goose.
Brazil is a similar situation minus the shared border and a slightly different problem.

Bannon loves talking to left wing media rags. Dude practically tripped over himself to talk to Tim Miller when he was released from prison

Who made them an enemy? I simply said they would not have the balls to iron up with us. Thats not making an enemy thats just a pure and simple fact.
Putting US troops in Mexico without their consent would very much make them an enemy

If true, wish I could reup at 47 years old. I have the special set of skills required to do that job.

Leave Mexico alone but lock the border down tighter than Ft Knox. Any cartel members on this side? Exterminate them if they so much as look like they are pulling a gun. Put cartel drug traffickers and human traffickers in cells with no windows for decades. Seize cartel assets in the US. Rinse. Repeat. Rinse. Repeat. Rinse. repeat.
The actual workings of the cartels can be Mexico’s problem. But the message to keep your shite out of the US needs to be loud and clear.

Without blasting the guys in Cali, Colombia, you are just creating space for younger cartel members to establish something new.

Oh no. How will we recover? Please god let’s not get conquered by an army of 4’8 chimps with a 4th grade education

I don’t know how anyone who’s read about the history of US relations with Mexico thinks playing whack-a-mole down there is productive. It has never worked. And we have tried it before—several times.
Really? Texas says hello. Seemed to worked out all right in that instance.

It would be cheaper to pay Mexico to stop border crossings. You offer enough money, they'll comply.
Give them as much as we give Ukraine, and the Cartels will disappear. They will show up elsewhere but will not be a Mexican issue.

well if you control the bridges of the panama canal, you essentially stop foot and car traffic that turns into caravans to US border. perhaps part of a comprehensive plan?

“Troops” probably isn’t the best descriptor of who would be down there.

Its Rolling Stone, so most likely untrue.
Good thing to float in hopes the cartel buys it and tries to take out Trump as well.

Targeted assassinations isn’t going to take down the cartels. We’d have to occupy the whole damn region for decades to fully do something like that. Which obviously isn’t on the table because we aren’t going to war with Mexico and can’t afford it anyway.
Trump should do the GWOT: Sepia edition!

I’m sure Mexico will be perfectly fine with that.
Yea?
WHAT IN THE frick ARE THEY GONNA DO ABOUT IT?
ALL of the Mexican government is in debt to the cartels and are just as liable. frick those motherfrickers.
