Once a developer, always a developer.

Spending habits of the youth is part of the problem. If you really want to buy a house, you will find a way to do it.

Depends on the retirement age when I get there but hopefully no more than 30 years

quote:True. I could retire today, but won't be 62 for 2 1/2 years. I didn't start really saving in the 401k until 2004. Probably had 20K in there due to a divorce. I started maxing in 2004, then adding extra with the 401K catchup. Sacrifice now and reap the benefits at retirement age.

Well she didn’t do it by herself now did she??

And no it wouldn’t be “good enough” for the kid. I truly feel sorry for kids raised in an apartment.

What amount of the home value is artificial inflation?

You are an idiot. A home is an investment not just “a place to live”. The usual suspects of Rog and his merry band of retards have crawled out their holes
What a dumb take. A house is a necessity, just like a car, clothes, food, etc. You can buy nicer necessities, and some necessities even turn into investments, but that doesn't inherently make a necessity an investment.

Sitka only has Mt. Edgecumbe going for it, while Juneau is tiny, expensive and a "light" version of Seattle.
Thats the perception. Juneau is a lot more sane than Seattle, and Sitka has the summer Classical Music Fest.
Lots of talented kids in Sitka.

yes, my wife and her family graduated from there. It's beautiful, but my wife never wants to move out that way.
Only place I'd probably move to in the SE would be around Haines

No reasonable person wants anyone to be financially devastated, but addressing housing prices are more important than ensuring some people's portfolios are protected because all their wealth is tied into their house.

Thats where we're headed, near Mosquito Lake. North of Klukwan. Haines is by far my favorite town/city in AK.

What you want is to force people to sell their homes to you at a lower price than the market price.. That's stealing. You want to steal from others.

Not if they agree to it.
Why should home prices be protected from market forces?

market price
I'd argue that the market is more like a government market price
which is why govt. needs to get out of housing completely. Let a crash happen and start anew
