In other words, not straight to a vote...

I took straight vote to mean bypassing the House.

Every vote in both congressional houses goes through some form of debate.

In 2011, to ease the logjam of President Obama’s appointees awaiting confirmation, the Senate adopted a resolution allowing nominations for specific positions to bypass a committee and go to the full Senate for a vote. The committee still collects background, however. And if a single senator objects to the expedited process, the nomination goes to committee as usual.

I think the left perceives Gaetz almost the way we do AOC, Tlaib, and Omar.

He's a villain to the left and he shakes trees

My only objection is whether he's really got much of a handle on DOJ corruption and the legal apparatus in this country and how it favors leftist causes and punishes Republicans. He's got some personal experience there, but I just question how plugged in he is to know how the sausage is made such that he can issue spot and dismantle what needs to be dismantled.

Okay, now I understand.

I don't know if this still applies.

Yeah I love it for the troll factor but not sure Matt is an intellectual heavyweight and an 80-hours per week type of workhorse.

He's always struck me as more of a 20 hour per week guy but I could be wrong. And I love him regardless - he's my fav house member and has been since we lost our Madison.

He's been yelling at and investigating DOJ assholes for YEARS on the judiciary committee. He knows where the bodies are buried, to be sure, and I trust him to clean up that fricking mess.

Furthermore, the DOJ tried to arrest him for having sex with a former minor.
