Didn’t they adopt a resolution when Obama was elected allowing some presidential nominees to go straight to full senate vote?

In terms of Cabinet members, which the AG is included, there are 15 Cabinet position that require senate confirmation. The House is not involved at all.

It’ll be fine - they(we) haven’t elected a democrat in these parts since 1992

No, "we" don't. They pass mulitple CRs every budget cycle and everyone of them creates a larger national debt with even more government.

Sounds like you are against CRs. So is Matt. In fact he tried to no avail to break up the budget into 12 items allowing amendments. He received too much pushback from big spending Republicans.

Florida will probably complete a special election and announce his replacement before California, Arizona and Pennsylvania finish counting votes from 11/5.

All positions that require senate conformation go straight to senate vote, after their respective senate hearings. It's always been this way.

The concern isn’t in electing a dem…it’s in the seat sitting empty waiting for a special election with a razor thin majority.

Many are assigned to a committee first.

I also wonder if this was a favor for Speaker Johnson so that he doesn't have to worry about Gaetz leading a revolt against him in the House.

It'll take months to fill the seat while there are bills to pass. The GOP does not have an abundance of seats over the dems.

The likelihood of Gaetz getting confirmed is remote anyway.
