Transferring wealth to the Treasury doesn't pay off debt. It just changes the Treaury's balance sheet. The OP was about paying off our debt

Well. That's a convoluted statement. We are obligated to pay off our debt in US Dollars. Not bitcoin. So, bitcoin is not legal tender for swapping out debt. If I hold US bonds, and the government sends me Bitcoin when my bonds are due, then about 10 major things would happen in immediate sequence. One is that I would sell the bitcoin to get the USD that I need and am owed. That would have the effect of collapsing the bitcoin market. And then that would add immediately to M2 money supply. Which would add to inflation. And would collapse the bond market instantaneously. And would be considered a US Govt default. Which would collaps the world economy. All that would happen in about 15 minutes . It would be systemically about 100 times worse than just adding a 0 to the end of our currency.

Clearly, I’m no alter, and I’ve never been on the DU, but I’ll happily chime in to add that Trump has been loking more and more foolish, even absurd, for the last year or more.
