You did a partial quote to change my meaning, which was that leaders should not put their name on things; others should do that. And frankly, I think all of those suck. I have long been revolted by honoring politicians who mostly spent their career stealing from us. And Trump is one of the worst.

Trump has clearly gotten to the point that he has fully embraced being the Swamp.
He said so in that speech that was clipped and posted here recently. He admitted that bribing people for their votes was cheating (yes, he said that word).
But like all of his sycophants, he justified it by saying that the other side cheats, so its o.k. for him to do it too.
And it's obvious that that kind of narcissistic justification doesn't stop there for him in this second term. He's done things this term using his position to profit from that this board would have absolutely had a nuclear meltdown about if anyone else had done them. And he does them right out in the open.
I think being shot was a crossroads for Trump, and I think he took the wrong road. I think that's what all the, "I don't think there's anything that's going to get me into heaven. I think I'm not maybe heaven-bound," type comments were about in 2025.
I think he considered what he decided was his fate and then said, "frick it. I got maybe 10 years left—4 more in the WH—and I'm going to get as much swag as I can, make as many bold moves as I can, get as much sweet revenge as I can, soak in as much adoration as I can, etc."
Plus (and this isn't anything new...I think he's always been this way), I think he gets a genuine hard-on from knowing that he's doing things that would make his sycophants' heads explode but being praised with tender man-love by his populist horde for doing the same things. I think that kind of thing is the real crack he's addicted to.

Is there any proof that Trump has raised 17 million? Why would he have to??? Congress has already given Trump's Board $257 million last year.
I'm sure the same Congress would be happy to raise another $30 million on an emergency basis.

I dug into this and smell a rat. There isn't any independent verification that Trump has raised a dime for the Center.
The fact that he settled on $17 million seems weirdly specific. There is probably $17 million in the account, but it has nothing to do with Trump.

There is another, completely separate $17 million associated with the Kennedy Center.
The Washington National Opera sued the Kennedy Center in June, alleging that the Kennedy Center was withholding more than $17 million in donations belonging to the Opera. The Opera says these were donations made by its supporters for its benefit, not money belonging to the Kennedy Center.
So we shouldn't accidentally count that $17 million as Trump's fundraising.
