What purpose does it serve the American people to have military bases all over Europe and the Middle East? Should the US have several ports and bases globally in select countries? Sure. But several hundred bases?

Congrats on having zero understanding of international trade. Do you think oil is the only thing flowing through and around that region? Do you really think China is building artificial islands in the South China Sea for the hell of it? Are you completely unaware of the number of ports China controls in that region and around the globe? They aren’t offering to build places ports for free simply because they are so magnanimous and generous. One simply can’t up and abandon an entire region to the Chicoms just because you wish us to.

Prices would be astronomical around the globe. People fail to realize that we’ve pretty much shipped our manufacturing base to China. What happens to all of those goods when China controls both ends of the process, and by that I mean the manufacturing, the transport and the shipping and receiving because they own and operate the ports? The cheap labor mysteriously won’t be so cheap anymore. They control the flow of oil which means transportation costs go up. Got a disagreement with them? Well good luck trying to get your countries goods and services loaded and unloaded at ports around the globe.
