That's a retarded point.

If the U.S. had ample supplies for testing, and had a well-coordinated response from the federal to the State levels, Trump could actually get away with this and come out smelling rosy - perhaps even heroic.

People don’t have crystal balls to know what’s coming in the future, that’s why they are called emergencies and not planned events.
Heck, in January, the Dems were spending all of their time and effort trying to impeach Trump. If they knew this was coming as you imply, why weren’t they using their time ramping up supplies to fight the virus?

Trump is right at a solid B- on this. He got some things really right (immediately shutting down flights to a China), some things late (delays in instituting travel bans to hotspots not named China, as well as domestically), and some things wrong (not closing the southern border).

Considering everyone else - republicans and democrats - would be getting an F and instituting hug a Chinese person day that’s pretty good.

This is probably the best post I've seen. It doesn't matter who is in charge, some are going to praise and some are going to bitch. You would think adults who claim to be highly educated would understand this simple thing. You can never please everybody.

One thing to note from this is that the fact that the economy was doing so well prior to this that we can expect a rapid recovery. Most economists point to a "V" shaped recovery meaning a quick bounce back.

In the end this likely will mean our health industry will benefit from "lessons learned" so that future responses will be more efficient and effective. The CDC was ill prepared for this as was our medical system, but this has been an unprecedented event and people need to see it as such and realize we are in unique times.

I believe that in the darkest of times our finest hours are revealed and this case will be no different.

As recently as within the last 10 days, Biden was saying hed lift all travel bans and the House Dems were trying to pass legislation to prohibit Trump from doing it.

Trump has been screaming for ages about illegals too. We know for a fact Chinese nationals are among those coming across our southern border, and who knows who else?

What party has pounded the drum for open borders and no immigration controls at ALL? In this case, if the doomsayers are right, they literally would have killed a lot of people.

EU just in the last couple days instituted travel bans. This is a full 7 weeks after Pres Trump did.

I'm just curious how the electorate is going to respond after seeing the left wing treat this crisis with political games and gotchas, from their leadership, their media on down to their foot soldiers.

It's going to say a lot about the state of our citizenry. I don't know how that turns out but I have my fingers crossed, what we are seeing from the left is downright horrid.

Surely, you see how simply NOT being Trump has its appeal to some too, right?

So while Trump shutting down travel from China, Europe, and elsewhere was a good thing and actually a logical thing, it hasn't really done much to stem the bad tide, has it??
This proves you're a hack. The boldest thing he does and you're trying to minimize it. This single act of his "flattened the curve" from the outset and to say otherwise is completely disingenuous.

Why wasn't there already coordinated plans for private medical corporations who already manufacture this stuff to begin with, to start with the masks, respirators, gloves, shields, syringes, swabs, and other PPE equipment?
Has that ever existed for PPE during other administrations? How quickly do you think these things can be brought online? PPE also has expiration dates. Should we have just continuously stock and destroy for decades until this happened?

If Trump knew from the beginning that this was a pandemic, then why was the production of tests so delayed?

Instead of being pretty much the most capable of countries at being ready, to be so far back in the pack of actually being ready??
Are we? 330,000,000 people and how many infections? How many deaths?

Their first case was right when our first case was, but they were far, far more prepared to fight the COVID-19 than we were because their leadership was more proactive and took the virus more seriously than we did. Bottom Line.
You answered yourself. South Korea has had more pandemic experience. Plus, at this time South Korea has more infections per capita than the US. That will change, but we are better off than France, Germany, Switzerland, etc.

You'd be a great president with your skills of hindsight.

As much as you are critical of Trump,

it's worse for Biden

That narrative is so overblown, it doesn’t play well (or often) outside far right circles. It’s the same for a lot of Trumps criticisms and the far left.

Trumps general election chances, just like every other president, will go the way of the economy. Trump has to get us back economically this spring/summer. Biden’s flaws will never outweigh that, deep down everybody here knows it.

You keep on falsely claiming that the testing was delayed because of oval office policy, and I am god damn sick of it.

Dr. Fauci, Dr. Birx and numerous other people smarter than you have told us that the testing delay had to due with bureaucratic inertia at the cdc and the fda, and the fact that our existing system wasn't set up for it.

We WOULD NOT HAVE HAD FASTER TESTING if we had a President Clinton, jeb, obama, biden, rubio, etc.

Well said, thank you
