This is what the PC will look like by 2026

"Every square meter of the Panama Canal... belongs to Panama and will continue belonging to Panama."
It was built in inches, feet, yards, and cubic yards of dirt and concrete. There were no meters involved. That might have something to do with it being successfully constructed. Only the Americans could have done it. Things were going so smoothly, and then along came Jimmy Carter.
But - it's theirs now. As long as we are not prevented from making use of it, I see no point in taking it over again.

This seems simple. He wants them to cut off all the South American immigrants that come through the Darian Gap. This is his leverage.
He said it was due to high fees and Chinese influence.
“Our Navy and Commerce have been treated in a very unfair and injudicious way. The fees being charged by Panama are ridiculous,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform on Saturday.
“It was solely for Panama to manage, not China, or anyone else,” he said in the original post. “We would and will NEVER let it fall into the wrong hands!”

China sets its sights on the Tropics: Sino- Caribbean and Central American relations are reshaping maritime infrastructure investment
China has set its sights on the Caribbean and Latin America as part of its growing international integration aims, placing Sino-relations and investment as a driving force in International South development. In doing so, Beijing has renewed its interests in the region, providing investment in infrastructure, logistics, tourism and trade while raising concerns among political actors and financial experts about growing dependencies, ideological integration, and growing geopolitical tension.
Through financial lending and grants, and the contracting of Chinese construction and managerial firms, China has directly influenced maritime activity through investment in port and transport infrastructure to increase China-Caribbean/Central American trade. It has also provided loans, launched infrastructure projects, and boosted diplomatic and strategic relations to strengthen regional ties within the Caribbean and Central America.

Extending control: Panama and Nicaragua Canals
Chinese efforts to become involved in constructing and controlling a trans-continental canal in Central America are fuelling concerns about the motives behind Chinese regional participation and maritime/land claims. Unsuccessful efforts to construct a canal bisecting Nicaragua and ongoing involvement in the construction, management and oversight of the Panama Canal reflects Beijing’s desire for greater regional control beyond that facilitated through existing intergovernmental and commercial partnerships.

Bill Clintons dumbass gave it back to them
No! Clinton gave our High Speed computer/IChip secrets to China. Carter gave away our Canal.
Both Parties gave away our jobs.

es. America need to assert itself and stand strong. It's not 1945 anymore. We can't take care of everyone else, especially with our adversaries advantages that Biden and his Marxist puppet masters have given them.

How would Trump get the canal back? Was it given to Panama on certain conditions?

If you are correct and the Darien Gap is being used as a hideout for drug pushers and gang bangers and also as a route for illegal migrants, then the US has a right to stop illegals and criminals from entering our country. Panama has no business facilitating the invasion of another sovereign nation.
Lol, over 10 million people have flowed through there in the laat 4 years.

I wouldn’t even say they are facilitating it. It’s just a nearly impossible place to police. It’s as wild as wild gets.

The US helped to create the country of Panama,it organized and backed an uprising to become independant from Colombia. So they could proceed forward with building the canal. There is a treaty called Torrijos-Carter Treaty where the US can retake control over the canal if it were compromised.

Seems the canal would create a 'natural' barrier to mass people movement - if someone wanted to try.

Well that’s the thing. Because it’s such densely impassable jungle, with only the Darien gap as a a route in or out, it’s easy to find the camps. There have been a couple people that have taken video crews there to document a specific Chinese camp for illegals and camps for all the rest. Locals know where the camps are, but they simply don’t care. Then the US has been such asshoe to the world for some decades now, we’ve burned up any goodwill left

Makes no sense to have given it back.
Was it ever technically theirs to "give it back" to them? Panama would still be a part of Colombia if it weren't for us sending Marines down there to get it separated in 1903 and canal started to be built by our corp of engineers in 1904. Their president needs to be reminded of that.
