Target ran into backlash when they moved gay "pride" merchandise (including kids' items) to the front of the store and into the entranceway. Parents were pissed that the front and center in-your-face displays were designed to get the attention of 4-6 yr olds.
After blowback, target moved the stuff to different areas of the store, out of childrens' normal path, and with less prominent displays.
