Birthright citizenship should only apply to legal residents and legal workers here on a visa

Should not apply to illegals, visitors, tourists

Nah. It’s so simple the only way you don’t understand it is if you’re dedicated to being ignorant. I’d rather teach my dog calculus. Better attitude will likely have better results.

Beats the hell outta being ignorant and unable to understand the simple application of one’s own assertion.

Liberals are melting as expected.

I already completely shut one down though. She was talking about how "unfair" this is. I made a simple statement:

"Your neighbor is an illegal immigrant and pregnant. She comes to your home while in labor and ends up birthing right there in your bathroom. Then she looks at you and says 'me and my baby live here now, and you and your husband are obligated to financially support us forever'."

That conversation ended real quick, because she knows I'm right.

I regret that I have had but three humble votes to have offered up to The Don.

they should have written the 14th to say that then....

it didn't apply to natives because natives were considered a separate sovereign nation within the country

if a mexican comes into the US, they are under US jurisdiction...if they weren't then we couldn't arrest them!

it was addressed by the court in 1898...by a son of Chinese immigrants who claimed citizenship because he was born here...he later joined the marines and fought in WW1

As I said, I've addressed it. You even admit that I addressed it

Pretty clear this was the exact sentiment of those who ratified the 14th.

Note: none of them were "founders"

Okay... within the textual limits of the 14th amendment... do you think it should be interpreted that an 8mo pregnant woman, of a different nationality, who illegally crosses our border, automatically pops out an American child?

Are you suggesting that the founders would have approved the 14th??

based on what??

Why do we care about the founders? I used to be very much a strict constructionist but that seems kind of silly.

note - did he say they were?

If I were to make a comment about the founders 'rolling over in their graves at the thought of transgender surgery - would you be lecturing me on the fact they didn't say anything about it?

sir - this is not a courtroom

- hell it isn't even a Wendy's!

The founders crafted the Constitution with the ability to amend it, which makes their opinions pre-Amendment worthless on the matter.

Oh for Pete's sake

Do you reject the idea of "original intent?"

You've overstepped you limit of "I'll show them how smart I am"

need to dial it back a step

I don't even really disagree, but to accomplish that, the proper way is a Constitutional Amendment. That's why we have them.

Yes. Read Wong Kim Ark for a historical-textual analysis as to why.

To fix it, we need to re-write the 14A via amendment.

I'm saying what they would or wouldn't approve of is irrelevant to the discussion entirely.

You're using words you don't understand within the context of the conversation.
