This is true for some but mostly it crushes small businesses. If you don't sell enough, have excess inventory, have your own online store puts you at risk for competing with Amazon. I work with Amazon FBA daily for clients and every one of them has had their products undercut by Amazon, had their products sold to unknown distributors by Amazon, had counterfeit accounts selling the same product yet fake- all set up in Amazon and Amazon does nothing about it.

This is it in a nutshell. The telegraph made it hard on the pony express. The telephone made it hard on the telegraph. Email made it tough on paper companies. Cell phones made it hard on pay phones operators. Uber made it hard on taxicab owners. Get over it and re-invent yourself!!

Bezos is a flaming a-hole, but you have to give him credit for what he created. You would do the same thing.

The problem is not Amazon, it is the american shopper, we want to save every cent then get pissed when mom and pop can sell it to us immediately for the same price.

Amazon is pure poison for small retailers, especially those in rural areas, not sure it is the FedGovs business to resolve though

Instead of dominating online retail for toys ToysRU didn't change and went belly up.

Remember they went through a leveraged buyout that loaded their balance sheet with debt. Hard to blame other retailers for failing to keep up and leveraging your own balance sheet.

Back up the "mostly" part of that claim. Amazon is 4% of American retail.

I think this issues shows that free markets are great things but not even all conservatives agree on whether the unintended consequences are.

Eta: I am pro-amazon and use it often. I think Wal-Mart pickup is the best idea Walmart has had in YEARS, and it was driven by the idea that people hate going in the store and waiting to check out. Amazon forced Walmart to adapt for the better. Mom and Pops may not be able to do what Walmart does, but they have advantages that Amazon and Walmart do not have, so they need to leverage them.

I work with Amazon everyday dipshit and see what happens first hand.

Also, each one of these listed is by far a small retailer and each one of these companies dump millions into their own online eCommerce..

I don’t have an issue with Amazon. It’s a great service and good for consumers.

Thing is in retail as long as people buy shite the jobs will be there. Someone may have to change from stocking shelves at wal mart to stocking a warehouse for amazon or delivering packages, but amazon does not eliminate jobs imo

Love the Trump admin but disagree on Amazon. Can’t blame Amazon for providing a convenient way to shop with the added benefit of great customer service. Consumers want a one stop shop and Amazon provides that. I think it’s great they give small and giant retailers the same platform to sell their products.

What industry do they own 100% market share in? Maybe I missed something

They are the largest loss leader on the planet with AWS subsidizing the entire company with their operating profits. Y'all see their market cap and get triggered despite the fact that their stock price is getting juiced by monetary policy, and will get crushed in the next risk-off scenario. Cry me a river on Amazon.

I don’t like businesses that intentionally avoid turning a profit in order to hurt their competition way down the line. It’s particularly bothersome when they’re using profit in one industry to fund losses in another to have an unfair advantage. It’s very anticompetitive.
