I don't know if this is true anymore. I don't think Amazon uses USPS anymore. All I ever see are their own delivery trucks now. I think they brought the whole delivery service in-house.

WalMart.com is the only outfit that delivers stuff to me USPS.

The thought of a bunch of grey vans driving around my community delivering shitty products while all the other stores around are closed is a nightmare. Frick amazon and wallyworld. Got damn people...you have to be smarter than this communist loving mfer.
I actually like knowing the people in my community by name and having a relationship with the business. The van driver is a pawn and could care less about you. He’s a slave to the grey van owner and scared for his job because the jobs are all gone. If you’re a poor frick I get why this appeals to you, but I’m not.

Uhhh do you really think in most communities there are fewer choices of retailers today than there was 10 years ago?
You sound like K-Mart shoppers of the eighties whining about Wal Mart.

Amazon is a disrupter. You may think they are great now. When they have forced all the retail stores to close then that’s when they will show you who they really are and how they operate. Same reason any transportation company with any sense has pulled out of business with them. They get you ducked in with great paying rates and once you have changed your business around them they cut your rates.

When can we expect that to happen? Were you one of the people in 1990 that said WalMart was going to close all the competition?
How do you explain the growth of so many retailers over the last 10 years?
How do you explain the number of locally, privately owned Ace Hardware stores across America actually numbered more than ever before last year? on and on.

Are you advocating for monopoly power?!?!

I agree with Trump on this.
That feels weird to say.

You're mostly right. Amazon has revolutionized shopping, not "killed retail".
There have certainly been casualties, but we can now buy things cheaper than ever and have them delivered to our doors in a day.
It's a hell of a time to be alive.
Next thing you know it, people will get on here lambasting Garmin and Google for devastating the atlas industry.

Point to any monopoly. How could anyone possibly call Amazon a monopoly???
Give me a link to anything you think they have a monopoly on.

I did not know this when I started this thread yesterday but Steve Mnunchin is a long time friend of Eddie Lambert considered by many to have run Sears into the ground.
Mnuchin was a board member of Sears while Lambert was running it and stripping it of its money.
The swamp grows.

Amazon has "destroyed the retail industry"

Let’s look at one example of the effect Amazon might have.
I am a homebrewer. I thought it would be fun to use some of my beer making equipment to make soft drinks for my kids. I decided to make them all sugar-free, and selected sucralose as my sweetener.
Without Amazon, I would have basically two options. I could buy the huge bags of granulated Splenda at the grocery store, or I could buy boxes of the tiny little yellow packets and open several dozen packets per batch of soda.
Through Amazon, I am able to buy a 250g bag of pure sucralose, which gives me the same amount of sweetness in my beverages for 1/8 the cost. Amazon has three suppliers of the bulk sucralose, each of which seems to be a small, closely held company.
so, Amazon hurt the grocery store and helped both a small business and me.

If the Washington Post would just be nice to President Trump this would not even be an issue.

I wondered yesterday why the Secretary of the Treasury was comment on a DOJ action and see now his Sears relationship.
