Unfortunately for RDD, that doesn't even sniff of truth. If there were a hint of truth to it, DeSantis's poll numbers would not be declining.

FTR, this statement is likely not an endorsement of Joe Biden, who is a gigantic liar.

Both things can be true, and pointing out the lies of one is not automatic support of the other.

Figured I'd help you out there, since that response was incoming.

Sure...is it possible he isnt?

Sure... but if he isn't, it would be pretty easy for his enemies to produce the clip of him presenting the award or at least signing off on it.

Should he take responsibility for paying hookers to pee on Obama's bed?
Should he take responsibility for saying he didn't want to visit a WWI US cemetery because dead soldiers were losers?

Now we have a Presidential citation awarded supposedly in the chaos of his final day in office, where we know people like Milley were in open rebellion, and of which Trump claims he was unaware.

Is it possible he's telling the truth?

At what point does the man earn a SINGLE INSTANCE of benefit of doubt from you folks?

I'll concede these are good points, Trump has been right to stand his ground with a ton of bullshite thrown at him, and maybe he's telling the truth about the award given to Fauci. You have to admit though that it looks pretty weak from him now and I wish he would have come out immediately if someone went behind his back and gave Fauci an award and said "what the hell is this" at the time. Doing it now seems kind of weak and like a lack of taking responsibility.

But more than that he is unequivocally wrong and trying to rewrite history on how he dealt with Covid versus people like Desantis and Kemp. I'm not even trying to use 20/20 hindsight to blame him for his handling of it, but his gaslighting on the issue now is pretty ridiculous.

In a perfect world, I'd probably prefer DeSantis over Trump. DeSantis certainly did a much better job than Trump on the virus and that is a big issue. However, unless Trump dies, DeSantis has no chance and attacks on Trump just hurts his 2024 chances to get Biden and the extreme far left out of office.
The classic “i’m going to vote for who i think is going to win, rather thean who i think is the best candidate”

Pollsters love voters like this. Easy to manipulate.

It's just math.

In this case, we have a guy that admits he prefers DeSantis but stated he's still supporting Trump because he's leading. Is he the ONLY one that feels that way? I doubt it.

Is it enough to overcome Trump's lead? I don't know, and neither do you.

What I do know is that if there are people afraid to support a candidate they prefer because they think the other guy is more likely to win, then we've got a system that makes no sense. Support the guy you prefer, and if he loses then throw your weight with your next choice. But going along with the crowd is why the numbers are what they are right now..

Trump and Republicans are stupider than can be comprehended for continuing to litigate Covid all these years later. People care about the fricking economy and money.

Okay and why is the economy and the monetary system fricked up? Dumbass

Meanwhile, he's leaving millions of votes on the table from people outside his base who I think he could easily bring into the fold with a little more discernment and common sense. Millions of votes he will need by the way.

There were between 5.5-6 million people in both 2016 and 2020 who voted for at least 1 down-ballot Republican but not Trump. In both years, Trump had the weakest Democratic opponent on the entire ballot - the most hated Democratic nominee in history and a 77 year-old with dementia. Yet these people didn't vote for him but voted for Republicans down the ballot that they literally couldn't ID out of a lineup at gun point, many of them being far more conservative than Trump is.

That's a horrible look for Trump. The day he was sworn in if he had put his phone away and stopped saying and doing stupid shite he would've brought the majority of those 6 million back into the fold. But he didn't and he has no interest in doing so.

What do you think the average voter cares about? What maybe caused the snowball years ago? Or how to fix it? I'm sure yelling and calling names will make everyone think like you though.

Desantis has pretty much stayed the same as he has been when every Republican, conservative, and even Trump loved what he was doing as Governor of Florida. He just didn't wait his turn I guess, so now he is terrible. Makes sense.

Actually he won't debate because he's fricking annihilating his competition and has absolutely nothing to gain. But I guess I wouldn't expect you to understand that.

I agree. I hate the attacks he directed at DeSantis. They were/are animus driven, and wrong.

Kemp is a slightly different story. Kemp was such a complete dumbass that supporting his attempt at reopening was not politically feasible.

They want to hear a maea culpa and a guarantee that that won’t ever happen again and that there’s a plan in place to get us out of it.

Imagine if GWB came out in 2004 saying he didn’t know who should’ve been calling the shots on 9/11 and that he doesn’t know who made the decision to invade Iraq

Trump knows his hardcore followers are dumbasses. He can say whatever and they believe him, they’ll definitely never criticize him for anything.

He mocks them behind the scenes.

I guess so. I look at policy positions and results more than a "compelling campaign," but I grant you a lot of people don't. Obama objectively had one of the best run campaigns of all time.

He's also under a Constitutionally questionable, but nevertheless omnipresent gag order from the DC Judge. A debate forum could easily act as a tripwire.
