Nov 11 is veterans day. It's my day, I didn't serve in WWI or WWII.

Why take Veterans Day designation from all veterans?
Our contribution to world war 1 was relatively minimal in any event. All for celebrating armistice day like everyone else but there was nothing wrong with calling it Veterans Day.
If the United States were going to celebrate a victory day for WW2, it should be to reflect the victory over Japan. The soviets did the lions share of the work in Europe. Sure, they couldn’t have without our jeeps, food, and planes, but there’s no reason to needle that point or argue it.

I'm OK with more history based holidays.
Were you under the impression that Veterans Day was on November 11th for any reason other than the armistice date ending WW1?

My parents were both born in the 1920's, daddy served in the South Pacific and mama was in nursing school while WWII raged on. I can tell you, my grandparents generation was as tough as boot leather too. My grandparents were born before the automobile and both grandmothers lived to see the alleged moon landing in 1969.....what a period of world history to experience.

...
No?
It was originally armistice day.
It's something every American should know.
My point being I don't really care if they double up on holidays. If they want to make veterans day and armistice day both holiday's on the same day of the calendar, fine by me.

He's wrong that we have too many holidays.. we should have a week off for Christmas.
He should “fix” the holiday system to where most are observed on either a Friday or Monday enabling a 3 day weekend and eliminating middle of the week holidays except for Christmas and New Years.
Also, he could find a minimum of one holiday per month to be observed on a Friday or Monday. I think March, April, and August are the only months without a holiday. Here is what I have of known observed major holidays where banks are closed:
January
New Years Day
MLK Day
February
President’s Day
May
Memorial Day
June
Juneteenth
July
4th of July
September
Labor Day
October
Columbus Day
November
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving
December
Christmas
There are a few others that are observed regionally.

Veterans day.
Is Veteran's Day. Not Armistice Day. Veteran's Day took the place of Armistice Day.

Dude it's the same holiday just after WW2 the vets decided they wanted to honor all veterans that day.
I'm totally fine if we split it up and celebrate both.
This is a very weird hill to die on.

The WW2 sacrifices were significant but were child’s play compared to those of The Civil War, or to the sacrifices made by the people of the USSR and Germany (although both of those were aggressors in WW2).
WW2 deaths:
US: 418,000 Population: 139,000,000
UK: 450,000 Population: 48,000,000
USSR: 24,000,000 Population: 171,000,000
