It’s my understanding that between Trump 1 and Trump 2, a socialist candidate won election in Columbia and replaced their government that was collaborating with the US against the cartels with a government that was collaborating with cartels against the US.

TBH, I don't trust either one of the parties here, KB.
The fact is, one of Colombia big "industries" since the 80s has been it's cartels and their production and exportation of the drug trade. It's #1 Customer has been the US. It's always had "partners" (wink-wink) to "help facilitate the process" if you know what I mean. EVERYBODY had their fingers in the pie.
Bottom line here seems to be Columbia's BRICS membership and US disapproval. The Admin's sudden problem with "Drugs" is cover. They don't give a rats heiney about "Drugs" in the US, never did.
They now see an excuse to get greedy.
