This is happening all over the world, even in most developing countries. As standard of living goes up, birthrates go down. I don't know what you can realistically do about it short of a worldwide calamity that returns most humans to a subsistence economy.

Floating this on the same day that you announce that you plan to defund Headstart doesn't really do much for the whole "Goverment budget and spending is just a shell game" idea.

Nonsense. It's perfectly consistent with the narrative that the government sucks at every single thing it does and taxpayers' money is best in taxpayers' hands.

Birth rate obsession ain’t going to help MAGA beat the fascist allegations tbh.

Nobody that matters takes the "fascist allegations" seriously.

We already incentivize people to have babies many out of wedlock. This is so fricking dumb.

Does government run head starts? I was pretty sure they helped to fund locals to run them by subsidizing It for the low income folks.

Sure but the birth rate stuff was a similar obsession for Germany and Italy in the 30s. Just an interesting correlation that will get some folks worked up into a sweat.

Local what? State and local governments and "community action agencies" - so more government.

From what I've seen it's local business owners who run the head start but lots of different answers to that. Several of which aren't more government ....

It will be the same spending just under a different name. Shell game.

Improve the economy and increasing expendable income usually leads to more babies.

If i donate sperm, do i get to claim the 5k if they use my spunk to create a life?

Exactly. Vast majority of those organizations fail at pretty much every single thing they do, so less from them is more for the country.

You can call it a shell game, that's fine. But for many, $5K of taxpayer money in the hands of taxpayers isn't problematic that same way it is shoveling that cash through a bunch of public school districts, NGOs, tribes, etc.

I'm confused by your stance on this. Are you saying just remove head start funding all together and be done with it. Instead give people a 5k check per baby?

“I just think this administration is inherently pronatalist,” said the activist Simone Collins, referring to the movement to reverse declining birthrates.
Ms. Collins, along with her husband, Malcolm Collins, sent the White House several draft executive orders, including one that would bestow a “National Medal of Motherhood” to mothers with six or more children.

I'm saying defund head start (and as much of government as possible). That's a priority.
I don't really care about the $5K idea. I don't think it'll have much of an impact on birth rates.
If you really want families to have more kids, rightsize federal, state and local governments and school districts so families can afford more kids and a decent standard of living.
