Here's what Pope Benedict XVI had to say about migration:

"States have the right to regulate migration flows and to defend their own frontiers, always guaranteeing the respect due to the dignity of each and every human person. Immigrants, moreover, have the duty to integrate into the host country, respecting its laws and its national identity." - Papal Message for the 97th World Day of Migrants and Refugees, 2011

My comment: This does not qualify as speaking ex cathedra by the pope, because the papal infallibility dogma is strictly about faith and morals (not politics or demographics). However, it shows that the papacy does not have to advocate for open borders.

Well, Tom Homan cuts to the heart of the matter.

Honestly I'm a Tom Homan catholic.

Nobody has to go out and say they don't like the Pope. The pope is a man. He's a man of God, and he's got the entire Catholic world on his back, and I love him like Jesus loves him and loves all of us. But he's not a politician. And he needs to stay out of politics.

No pope should LIKE war. No pope should like death or murder in any way. But he, as a man, seems to misunderstand that Iran having a nuke would be compelled BY ISLAM to use it immediately. He should pray it doesn't happen, he should pray for the US and Iran and all parties involved to be guided by the Holy Spirit. To work to end all conflict.

I wish it did. But that's not reality. Jesus message to care for the poor, welcome the stranger, feed the hungry, use your possessions, time and energy to be the body of Christ in the world is difficult.

Narrow is the gate is very true.

This is what the Pope has tried to articulate.

One is acting as the president in the interest of his country and the other is articulating the gospel as the successor to Peter to a billion worldwide Catholics.

They are not speaking the same language.

No need to fix it. He didn't specify this pope in saying that. He said it's ok to disagree with the Pope when he speaks as an ordinary human. The obvious implication there is that the pope is something other than an ordinary human otherwise.

Again, Catholicism is ridiculous.

Yes because it’s ok to break laws and undermine the sovereignty of a nation so long as it benefits the Catholic Church.

Moral relativism is what is indefensible… yet here we are.

It is hilarious to watch redneck Protestants just attack an entity they do not understand. Literally, they’ve been told from the pulpit what belief. The Catholic Church truly tries to live out what the gospel teaches, and that includes immigration and loving my neighbor. Which is a tough thing for protestants in the south.

The Vatican has extremely lax immigration laws and open borders

As in you won't vote for him in the next pope election?

As in ... I'll question his words and deeds, and take everything with a grain of salt, for the remainder of his Papacy.

I love my Church, my Holy Trinity and all of its good intentions ... especially its stated mission to save souls.

But there have been corrupt Popes in the past ... and Popes are human and subject to human influences and biases. Saint John Paul pontificated that fact on a regular basis.

I don't worship my Popes ... I call'em like I see'em.

They are what they are. They are the top dogs of The Papacy.

The Papacy is the office, jurisdiction, and system of government of the Roman Catholic Church, presided over by the Pope (the Bishop of Rome). Therefore they are uniquely political in nature. They do and say what they believe is good for the Roman Catholic Church ... not necessarily all of its adherents.

Money and power are notoriously intertwined with the RCC at times ... that's a proveable, falsifiable, historical fact.

I'm somewhat concerned that this Pope has already been compromised. Especially given his meeting with David Axlerod and everything that has followed.

But hey, listen, this has been going on for centuries.

I thought the one redeeming quality of The Godfather Pt III was that it dared to touch on exactly this. As did The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Hugo, to some extent.

Why would a Catholic Cardinal not promote open borders to migrants from majority Catholic nations?

Well, a big reason I could see as why not is that such policy goes against the official Catholic Church teaching as outlined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Seems like cardinals ought to follow the teachings of the church.

CCC 2242

Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens

This would be true if the response was "we will worry about American politics and doing what we were elected to do."

Instead it's blasphemous memes, personal attacks, and "Catholics" telling the Pope he doesn't know theology.

Here's why no one likes "The Pope".

This pathetic excuse for a pope, Leo XIV, is a shameless political hack who meddles in global affairs like a cheap lobbyist. He spits on the Church's sacred duty to rise above filthy earthly power games. He needs to shut his treasonous mouth and crawl back to the confessional before he drags the faith into the gutter.

Leo XIV's rap sheet of predator-shielding, Obama-pandering, Christian-abandoning, Iran-apologizing, and anti-Church political warfare makes him the faith's internal Antichrist. He should stay the hell out of politics, seal his lying mouth forever, or be dragged from the throne before this wolf finishes devouring the sheep he swore to guard.

As Francis's progressive puppet and former Dicastery head, he stacked the bishops' bench with woke allies, eroding doctrine and turning the Vatican into a leftist echo chamber that betrays every orthodox soul who ever died for the true Church.

Back in 2000 as Chicago Augustinian boss, this wolf in shepherd's clothing housed a serial child-rapist priest (James Ray, accused of abusing 13 plus kids) right next to an elementary school, endangering innocents while playing protector. This was pure evil cover-up.

In Peru's Chiclayo diocese, he callously ignored three sisters' pleas after priests molested them as kids. There was no real investigation, no removals, just inadequate files shipped to Rome like dirty laundry he hoped would vanish.

SNAP survivors hammered him with formal complaints for botching abuse cases across the US and Peru, letting predators roam free while victims bled. His safeguarding was a sick joke that scarred the innocent and mocked the Cross.

Fresh December 2025 whistleblower bombshells reveal he granted a shady dispensation to a Peruvian priest accused of abuse, killing the internal probe into his own role. This was classic predator-shielder dodging accountability like the coward he is.

This disgrace hobnobs with Barack Obama's inner circle, cozying up to strategist David Axelrod in secret Chicago powwows while the abortion-devil Obama champions the slaughter of millions of unborn babies. This is a direct dagger to Church teaching this pope conveniently ignores.

Obama, the king of baby-killing policies that have drowned the world in innocent blood, gets red-carpet Vatican access through Leo's network. This proves this traitor values demonic leftist bromances over defending the unborn or the Gospel.

He stays deafeningly silent while Christians are slaughtered, raped, and erased across the globe. Yet this fraud cannot shut up about extreme Muslim Iran, blasting USA and Israel for striking back against terror while shielding the very regimes crucifying his own flock.

Loudly damning American delusion of omnipotence and bombs on Iran while extreme Islamists butcher innocents exposes Leo as a selective hypocrite who betrays Christian martyrs to pander to globalist radicals and leftist media darlings.

His paternal grandfather, Sicilian-born Salvatore Riggitano, fathered two illegitimate sons. This includes Leo's own dad, who stole the name John Prevost to bury the family bastardy and shame. It started this papacy on a rotten foundation of deceit and hidden sin.

Blood-tied through distant cousins to Hillary Clinton, Pierre and Justin Trudeau, Madonna, Jack Kerouac, and Angelina Jolie. This elite leftist celebrity cabal screams inherited globalist rot that explains his every anti-Church tilt.

Does this bastard ancestry of illegitimacy and famous progressive cousins fuel his Marxist drift, turning Peter's throne into a platform for open-borders, anti-Trump, and anti-Western bile? I think so!

First American pope? More like America's Judas. He attacks his own nation's defenses, cozies to enemies of the West, and sells out Christian civilization for applause from the godless elite.

His name-drop of Leo to ape Leo XIII's social encyclicals? Just a Trojan horse for socialist poison over unadulterated truth, flooding the airwaves with anti-force drivel while real evil festers unchecked.

History as Peru bishop and missionary proves a pattern of lax predator protection and victim abandonment. He is no shepherd, just an administrator who shields the guilty and starves the flock of justice.

This so-called peacemaker rejects desperate cries from Iranian Christian exiles begging for help against persecution, yet screams bloody murder defending the bomb-dropping regimes crushing them. This is pure satanic inversion of Christ's mission.

By forging alliances with abortion monster Obama's orbit, ghosting persecuted Christians, and weaponizing the papacy against America, Leo stands revealed as a full-blown traitor gutting the Church from within like a cancer in white robes.

Little-known scandals of family deceit, endless abuse cover-ups, elite leftist cousin networks, and selective outrage paint him as utterly unfit. He is a concealed bastard now concealing the Church's moral suicide for political gain.

The Left does not want a holy Church; they want a spiritual NGO that validates their hatred of the American experiment. If the Church is to survive this managed decline, it must excise this malignancy. Leo XIV must be silenced by the weight of tradition or removed by the very laws he has spent his tenure flouting. The sheep are not merely being led astray; they are being prepared for the slaughter by a wolf who has mastered the liturgical language of their own surrender. Order must be restored, or the West will find its foundations finally, and perhaps permanently, dissolved.

The Pope will hear this and think "Raping a 9yo? That's nothing. I've helped cover up the rapings of many 9yo boys. That issue won't move me one bit"

Does the gospel teach how to protect and enable pedophiles?

That’s a textbook straw man—and a lazy one at that.

No one said “the Gospel teaches how to protect criminals.” The claim was that the Church tries to live out the Gospel. You responded by swapping that with “the Gospel enables pedophiles,” which is a completely different (and obviously absurd) claim.

By that logic, any failure by any member of an institution invalidates the institution’s principles. That’s nonsense.

If a judge takes a bribe, does that mean the law itself teaches corruption?

If a cop commits a crime, does that mean the law promotes crime?

Of course not. It means a person violated the very standards they were supposed to uphold.

Same thing here. The Gospel—preached by Jesus Christ—calls for holiness, justice, protection of the innocent, and severe judgment for those who harm children (see Matthew 18:6). When clergy commit abuse, they’re not “following” the Gospel—they’re betraying it.

So no—the Gospel doesn’t enable evil. People who do evil in spite of it are the problem.

And reducing the Church that Christ founded and its 2,000-year tradition to the worst actions of individuals isn’t just wrong—it’s intellectually sloppy.

Yeah, I've always tried to stress that.

The Pope is The Pope. He doesn't get to flip a light switch back and forth, off and on, between being The Pope and being an ordinary everyday citizen.

Furthermore ... I absolutely guarantee you that this Pope has voted Democrat his entire left, every single time.

He's a far left wing liberal Chicago Democrat ... they're some of the worst.

I held out great hope for the man ... that he would leave politics out of his Papacy. But obviously that was too much to ask.

Here’s a tip for the Catholic Church …. first clean up your own organization before attempting to clean up something you know little about.

Start with pedos … then move on to the fraud that is catholic charities …
