It's the only compelling answer. I don't buy that the evidence has anything to doom Clinton or Trump. I don't think it's some mutual decision to protect the elites, I just don't think it works.

I think it's a combination of a) practical realities about how to release information regarding girls (some underage) who definitely don't want their private lives out on the street b) practical realities about the damage that may result to people who had business/engagement with Epstein, may never have done or known anything of note, but who feature in the materials and c) the above-refenced wild card - there has to be some absolute "no" that applies to both parties and has both parties willing to take the blows over it.

MAGA raked the Democrats over the coals when they were in office, and we're doing the same to them. And both have to sit back and take it with hands tied behind their back. That only points to a couple of directions (probably a combination of directions), IMO.

Let's be real, plenty of them, like Giuffre, already have them. I take your point, but I don't think it works in practice.

Plenty of the women abused by Epstein and others are out there, subject to NDAs, etc. The motivation to silence them is probably greater now than if/when all the evidence is laid bare. Cat is out of the bag then, at least in many cases.

But, I think DOJ/others does have to consider that there are real victims who are probably trying to live recovered lives and who don't want stories of their victimization plastered on front pages.

If you do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of Epstein there is evidence he was part of nexus between financial elite, global organized crime syndicates, and various intelligence agencies that has existed for decades. He had his finger in many pies.
