But usually a President does not create the problem and use the subsidy to cover up the fact that he screwed the farmer.
That's 3 X he screwed them. Once with tariffs against China, then by giving money to Argentina so they could make their IMF nut thereby allowing them to make a deal with China that necessitated a bail out last year......now he goes and screws them again with the Iran War and lifting the ban on red dye diesel that allows the truckers to use their diesel without any guarantees that the 8 day supply in diesel Putin promised him can actually be delivered at all.
But he shares muh values!!!

I’m never going to defend that massive strategic mistake.
But whether it’s because of free trade or war or recession or even bribery or some other cause, be it natural or manufactured, we have always given economic assistance in the forms of tax breaks (temporary and long term, cuts, rebates, subsidies, incentives) to our farmers.
