So is it okey that Thune, leader of the republican senate, just gets mad and runs off all negotiation instead of helping develop a practical solution?

“ Any single one of you could donate to your favorite J6 rioter without any repercussion. But frick using my money for it. I guess even public, blatant corruption has its limits for some politicians.”(quote MSM)
Perfectly understandable. But the Government used “my money “ to fund the whole thing. And honest people standing up against the massive fraud had to use their money to defend themselves.
The Dems/RINOS don’t like it because flips the narrative and frames them as being complicit in a Conspiracy to Entrap MAGA Patriots and impeach Trump.
None of this matters in the long run as it’s all a ‘he said/she said’ subjective truth scenario from here forward. An honest vote might delay the inevitable result of one Side or the other taking Authoritarian control of Government. For Muh National Security of course. Which would be true in either case.
Talk and voting can’t solve a problem wherein both ARE the problem.

Would be a fun time when they reach "discovery" part of the investigation.
Trump doesn't need litigation discovery. As POTUS, He can get any information he wants out of the IRS right now. And he can make it all public if he wants (excluding confidential information about other people, of course).
The only thing he wouldnt have is sworn deposition testimony, but he could just fire anyone who he thinks was lying. Or make them sign a sworn statement and charge them with perjury if they lied.
Thats part of the reason the litigation was so suspect: Trump is in charge of the Defendants, and their attorneys.
He didnt really even need to file the litigation. He could have just drafted a settlement agreement wherein he agreed to waive any claims he might have against the Gov't. And he could have valued those claims at Eleventy Gajillion dollars.

This is very good.

To the absolute clowns in the United States Senate ... especially the ones who just packed up and fled town like it was a fire drill. You wrote this law. You created the Judgment Fund in 1956. You expanded it in 1961 to cover settlements. And in 1977 you got together in your infinite wisdom and removed every single cap, turning it into a permanent, indefinite, unlimited blank-check appropriation for the DOJ. No annual vote. No real oversight. Just an open spigot of taxpayer money both parties have been happily drinking from for nearly fifty years. Then Trump settles his IRS tax-leak case, DOJ puts a “1776 Fund” label on a slice of that same giant pot you created, and suddenly everyone loses their minds. Democrats scream “new unconstitutional J6 slush fund!” Republicans have a collective panic attack so severe that John Thune kills the ICE and CBP funding bill and sends the whole chamber home. You built the machine. You protected it. You benefited from it. And now you’re pretending it’s some shocking new scandal invented by Trump? Spare us. Memo to every single one of you: You wrote the law, idiots. Own it, reform it, or shut up about it. But stop torching the budget process and running away from your own creation like it’s radioactive. The hypocrisy is actually embarrassing.

So what should be the proper punishment for the IRS and their mishandling of this situation?
Is there any truth behind the weaponization claims of this administration?

He should wait till after the midterms. He is owed that money.
People gripe about somebody getting a 500,000 dollar settlement after a vehicle accident. But Trump deserves $1.7 billion for having his tax return leaked. Not cultish behavior at all.

So he chose this instead of the 10 billion to him. Does he get the 10 billion now?

I guess the Swamp would rather he not settle the lawsuit for 1.8B and just take the 10B for himself. I don’t understand the logic, but OMB.

The lawsuit likely gets tossed if they hadn't settled it.
Besides, there is no universe where Trump or anyone else gets $10B from the IRS

"President Donald Trump has agreed to drop his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS regarding leaked tax records in exchange for the creation of a $1.776 billion "Anti-Weaponization Fund." This settlement, announced in mid-May 2026, establishes a government fund to provide monetary relief and formal apologies to individuals claiming they were victims of political persecution or "lawfare" by previous administrations. I have know problems with a $500K settlement if it’s awarded or agreed upon. Some idiot settled with Trump. He should get it. Don’t hate the receiver, hate the asshat that agreed to give it to him. How is that cultish?
