Our consumer prices are much lower, when adjusted for inflation, than during Biden's term at the very same time.
Biden wasn’t an option. Kamala wasnt either.
The question is whether we would be better off today with another republican option.
A strong case can be made that we would be.

BREAKING: Iran has completely ruled out any future negotiations with the Trump administration, declaring it will wait out Donald Trump's term until January 20, 2029, per Iranian outlets and Ghalibaf advisor's post.
"Trump will not reach an agreement with us. We will accompany him until his term ends," said Majid Shakeri, advisor to Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf.
He posted: "The path to victory is neither fighting nor a deal — it is managing the process of neither war nor peace, up to the point of victory. Publicly confirming negotiations with the U.S. is sheer folly. The winning approach is denial, ambiguity, and strategic patience."
Iran's conditions remain unchanged: $300 billion in compensation, release of frozen assets, and withdrawal of U.S. forces. Until then, the Strait stays closed.

Obviously.
There is nobody there really to negotiate with, and we hold all the cards with the blockade as their economy continues to collapse.
We will keep taking the W.

Kind of like me having a semi-hard on. Pretty fricking useless for the most part.

It's actually pretty simple. Iran is out of money and we have choked off their supply points. We don't owe Iran a dime and they are in no position to be demanding anything.
The US is facing increases but none greater than we did under Biden. It just gets more air time because Trump is the President.

Have you any idea what is happening over in iran?
The country is economically being crushed. They owe tens of billions of dollars. Inflation is up 300 percent.
The economy is for all intents and purposes destroyed.
While the hard liners are not out, they are not going to be able to survive.
The Iranian government doesn't care if their people starve. This is not a first world sane country we are talking about. It is a country full of religious fanatics. None of what you posted matters. And no, the Iranian people are not going to rise up and overthrow the government or IRGC that is pure fantasy.

do it, Mr. President.
Trump is going to wait until the mid-terms are over before he strikes.
He will give China one last chance to influence Iran. Trump will meet with Xi on September 24th and give him roughly two months to convince Iran to settle for an agreement.
Trump's main concern at this point is to try to keep oil at about 75 dollars a barrel. If he does that, the Republicans will not only keep the Senate but will very likely pick up Georgia. The House is a total toss up at this point.
Israel has been collecting an amazing amount of data regarding the choke points of the Iranian regime.
As Trump has pointed out, the US is in a position to continue the pressure on Iran without the need for a policy change.

I've been thinking that's what he will do - try to get a soft deal for now or just not do much, then hammer them after the midterms. The only thing I wonder about that is, does that put a lot of stress on the military in theater?

One has to wonder why Trump just didn't wait until after the midterms to strike Iran to begin with? Our own intelligence said Iran was of zero threat to North America via nuclear capabilities. Why not wait and use that time to ramp up production(s) of missiles, drones, and other military assets?

But we aren't taking the W because of one simple fact and that is the Iranian regime doesn't care. We need to stop looking at this from a western point of view and realize what we are dealing with here. This regime is willing to let their economy collapse and their people suffer as much as needed in order to say they defeated and embarrassed the US. Sanctions and economic pressure work as long as you are dealing with a government or leadership that values the well being of their people. We are dealing with the complete opposite here.

People can be so weak, unfortunately. POTUS Trump declared in January 2025 "it will get worse before it gets better".
I believed it then and I believe it now. Fortunately, I do not live in the instant so many must.
It Will Be GLORIOUS!!

Because he was either given bad intelligence on Iran's military capabilities (missiles, drones, ect.) or vastly underestimated the resolve of the regime to endure suffering and not be willing to negotiate. This was never supposed to take this long. The thought from the beginning was that this would last a couple of weeks or a month tops and Iran would cave. That didn't happen and here we are.

Dude
Trump declared Irans nuclear capability obliterated in June 2025 after we bombed the hell out of them.
He ran on no more wars. We have issues at home.
He waged war February 2026 and it was a debacle. Our allies wont help us. We didn’t seem to expect iran to fight back and certainly missed their capability to block the SOH.
Even if we somehow “win”, it’s not gone the way they thought. And There is zero chance that we hold them accountable without boots on the ground.
If you continue having trust in what Trump says after all of this, I’m not sure what it would take to wake you up.
