This very well may happen. But Scalise will have to make concessions to get the votes. I don't believe it's necessarily about the person it's about the concessions.

Someone just needs to go ahead and nominate Donald Trump. The reaction from both sides of the aisle will be a sight to behold.

Republicans showing they can’t govern. Prepare for another Biden win in ‘24.

You are seeing the transition away from the current GOP leadership. This is basically the only way to solve the weak Republican governance.

Ronna McDaniel is next. She's trying to cling to the same organizational structure that has proven to be a failure.

McCarthy has proven to be a full blown narcissist at this point. Most all of them
Only care about themselves and the American people are an afterthought. All they need is for is for our money!

Adjourning the house, even if successful, is a shite look for a guy who claims to have the votes to be Speaker.

Concerned their lies will be exposed? Then don’t lie, scumbags.

They’ll claim there is a water leak in the Capitol building then start counting votes after all the Members are sent home.

So glad the gop aren’t a bunch of yes men lackeys like the dnc - their progressives roll over every time - I’m glad to see the conservatives fighting to save the republic- and to the asshat retard that says this proves they can’t govern - the dnc hasn’t been governing for decades now - and have ruined this country beyond repair

This would make McCarthy incredibly weak. He would get constantly attacked and of course the Dems want this. He would probably get primaried in his own district for this kind of move. With this kind of move he would have no agenda.

His agenda is given to him by his donors. It won't matter if Dems vote for him or not. The other thing that can happen is the Dems can leave so the threshold is lowered for McCarthy - which is no different than Dems voting for him.

His donors will insure he keeps getting re-elected. It's California.

My prediction is that Dems already told McCarthy they will get a few people to vote for him - provided they can do it at COB on Friday, like at a special midnight vote or something along those lines.

Democrats love McCarthy.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) may be getting offered a lifeline by a top House Democrat. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) expressed on Tuesday that she is open to working with Republicans on some kind of “unity caucus.”

“Maybe what we need to do is look to some kind of arrangement that embraces people from both sides of the aisle and create a big middle,” the congresswoman told Spectrum News reporter Taylor Popielarz. “Because we can’t be ruled by fringes. That’s not in America’s interest and the people are telling us that.”

On Tuesday, McCarthy failed three times to earn enough votes to become Speaker of the House, but Democrats remained united in casting their votes for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

“Kevin McCarthy was only short a few votes. I wish I could be part of some kind of a unity caucus that would yield [McCarthy] the votes, because the Republicans hold a majority, and maybe put us in a special category,” Kaptur, the longest serving woman in Congress, said.

Kaptur floated the idea of lending her vote to McCarthy.

“I’m a Democrat, but we have many Republicans in our district,” she said. “Not that we would agree with them on everything, but at least let the man become Speaker!”

He went low and decided to threaten people instead of negotiating. He royaly fricked up when the members called his bluff.

That should be a death blow to his chances IMHO.

“Unity Caucus” = “frick you, pay me!”
