Katrina is in the conversation for both categories. Coverage was insane and abused by anyone with any cause to sell

Being in Louisiana, we really didn't pay attention to this very much as we were just trying to get our shite together and rebuild things while dealing with an incompetent hack like Blanco.

I can definitely see how it was much more profound for people out of state and the south in general.

I am going to get blasted, but Katrina was forgotten by many Yankees once Sandy hit.

WCA it is going to be interesting to see how they handle the LA Riots in the next few weeks/months.

I'll add in the fall of the Soviets, but that was less a specific event. Still a big deal though

In retrospect, it's a pretty tough question.

9/11 would have to be #1 for most people but after that, it gets murky.

OJ was more comprehensively covered than a lot of other stuff but the other stuff ended up being more historic and important.

Same, though I might flip O.J. with TRUMP.

the united states was wall to wall oj for 2 years. we're still fascinated by it now.

only 2 times the teachers rolled in the tv. 9/11 and the oj verdict. isn't that some shite.

Nah, I live in Chicago and whenever I mention I'm from Lousiana people ask about Katrina every time.

I am surprised nobody, especially the older posters did not mention Tiananmen Square. That was a revolt that got crushed on live TV in Primetime.

Moon Landing

Reagan attempted assassination

O.J. Simpson should be a separate category - the prolonged nature of the coverage - all out of proportion to the context of a double murder investigation, and it literally dragged on for years, is probably my only caveat to this category.

Oh, I was alive and well. But I wasn't a Stalin fan so it didn't bother me. BTW, in 1958 I listened to all the LSU games on radio (we didn't have a TV). That was a great team. Paul Dietzel was a much better interview than Coach O. Hell, he was a better interview than Les Miles. I was really pissed when he left for Army.
