First of all, the Favre thing is ongoing and will likely result in jail time and/or a fortune-crushing penalty. Every time some part of the legal proceeding occurs, it will be a news story. Favre will be sizzling on the stove for at least a year, at the end of which, he may be jailed.

Second, there is a long list of black guys who got slaps on the wrist for way more, like Ray Lewis or Mike Vick, whereas a guy like John Gruden gets banned for life for calling a guy a fig in an email 10 years ago.

Privilege.

That point doesn't exactly helped your argument here. You can argue the reasons, but Winston's situation got way more coverage when it was also still ongoing.

Maybe because Jameis at the time was a premier player and returning Heisman trophy winner for one of the most well known college football brands that were defending champs and predicted to be in the mix for the national title again and also a duel sport athlete who did what he did in the middle of baseball season. Bret has been retired and out of the spotlight for over a decade now.

Now the Bret situation is way, way worse than the crab legs, but at the end of day it’s a state of Mississippi issue revolving around a retired QB with no potential implications to an upcoming season for a sport that the whole nation watches every Fall.

Didn’t the crab legs stuff happen when Jameis Winston was just coming off a national championship and Heisman winning season? At the very peak of his fame.

Brett Favre has been out of football for over a decade now and hasn’t been in the spotlight since…save for a Wrangler jeans commercial every now and then. If the current Favre stuff would’ve come out in 2009 when he was leading a Super Bowl contending team it would have been a much much bigger story in the media.

I’m seeing the Brett Farve shite everywhere. Don’t see how it’s less coverage. And Jameis’ coverage was just all people clowning him.

Brett Favre never got suspended and then still dressed out and showed up on the sidelines because he's a dumbass either.

He went to prison
And still got to come back to the NFL, and later a broadcasting gig.

Adjusted for Bidenflation, those crab legs would be worth about 5 million dollars today.
