There have been alot of advancements in my lifetime. I'm 43. I can't remember there being on where I thought "oh, i don't know if this is even possible." This would be that advancement. This is potentially huge.

Not true exactly. While nobody is going to be taking a stroll without a suit, we have habitats that we have been working on.

Someone these are built under ground... like the Tunnel bored habitat (TB-habitat)

I’m assuming SpaceX will be sending the crew habitat and all that type of stuff up there before hand to pre-stage it?

With only a basic knowledge of survival and common sense, I would assume optimus will be sent to measure weather conditions and make sure supplies can be pre staged , or even sent for optimus to build so that the first humans can quickly or immediately have shelter and begin attempting to begin teraforming processes.

Starship isn’t exactly a “capsule.”

I'll bet anyone on this board 20,000 USD that this does not happen.

Not sure how quickly the human flight will happen, but the Optimus flight is definitely doable. Falcon Heavy’s Europa Clipper mission just reached Mars in under 5 months, so Starship shouldn’t have a problem. Once the recent Starship V2 issues are ironed out, they can progress to perfecting refueling, which should be straightforward, and working on a landing system, which they are already doing under the lunar landing program.

According to this it would take 9 months to get there and maybe 3 years to return

I often wondered who would be the next Da Vinci, Newton or Einstein. Elon is very much like them - and very different as well. But he is a visionary, a man who dreamed what "could be" and beyond all odds is on the way to making it happen. He's revolutionized the car industry, the space industry, robotics and artificial intelligence. We are witnessing a historic figure that will be talked about in centuries to come. No one will remember AOC or Schumer - they have accomplished nothing.

Starship can't get into orbit, not to mention carry any sort of payload other than a banana.

Also it was gonna take 6 or 7 launches just to fuel it for the moon, how many will it take for a mars misssion? Even if they get the thing working, they don't have enough time to fuel it in orbit.

yeah - I just don't see how it is possible - not with all the risks involved. We are not that prescient as yet.

And there is no practical rescue capacity.

Father Time is undefeated.

I don't know if he will achieve both of those marks but if he comes even close NASA should just be shut down

This is why you and the likes of you will not be invited on the trip. I would definitely do it without hesitation.

What’s the point of flying a worthless humanoid robot to Mars? How much money to send an robot for…reasons?
