Sooooo she’s saying that their is a proven way for blacks to not be killed by the white police???

I thought they were just being hunted down and killed because of their skin color.

Same.

Although I don’t remember any conversation re: looting, baby mama’s, unemployment, Crips vs Bloods or rolling dirty.

That’s just common sense, white or black.

If this conversation is happening, why so young black people never act like that with the cops? They do the exact opposite

Teach your kids the 5th Amendment instead of resisting. If little Rontay is innocent, then he will have his day in court to prove the evil popo wrong.

Pretty much the exact thing I taught both my kids.

Don’t most parents have that convo with their teenage children, regardless of race.

my dad never had to have the conversation but the way he raised me, I knew to behave and be respectful.

Do crackers have the opposite conversation? Such as, ‘you can get away with murder because you’re white’?

I have no idea why Black people think they are the only ones that do this? My dad had this talk with me long before I got my license. He even got the chance to demonstrate it in real-time a few times for me.

But does she not realize that white parents have the exact same conversations with our kids? Talk about a race-centric view of reality

Parents

I’m detecting the problem.

Edit: notice how many of the replies discuss how a father sat them down to explain these realities. In a culture that doesn’t value the presence of the father, these discussions, coming from women, are probably getting mentally filed away with all the other feminine bits of advice on how to be a man.

I think the pendulum is starting to swing away from the obsessive race grifting.

Why is it painful? Does it hurt to speak? Broken jaw?

I guess I am lucky. I never had to tell my kids not to ignore cop request when they pull you over and never reach for a weapon. I guess my kids are much smarter than hers. I am grateful for that.

But still I don't understand why it would be painful to teach our kids how to not get shot. Why didn't the article address her medical issue???

Let’s ask the North Louisiana State Troopers that pulled that guy out of his vehicle and beat his azz .
Folks you don’t get the point , yes I believe in respect you get treated as you treat others . All Cops are not Officer Friendly most blacks are paranoid at being stoped the Cops have total control .

That's the talk most parents have with their kids.

Because cops will shoot your arse if there's any misunderstanding. Skintone doesn't matter.

Apparently mike brown from Ferguson, got some different parental advice. Advice he got was probably "if u see a cop, punch them in the face asap, try to steal their gun. As long as you beat a cop, the other cops will get intimidated and you will be above the law."

NO. Black parents have to explain that they WILL be targeted. They will be harassed. And prep them on how to handle the random moments they will accused and handcuffed for just being.

White children do not live with the paranoia and worry that cops will do this.

Knowles-Lawson explained that Black boys and men are perceived as "dangerous" by many people, including police officers, which is the focus of her new show "Profiled: The Black Man."

The fact is, that on average, they are by far the most dangerous demographic in the nation. It’s a harsh reality these people need to wake up to. And just like any other risk in life, countermeasures to minimize the risk are appropriate and justified.
