President of Senate has limited powers, not like Chief Exec.

Thune leads the McConnell caucus within the Senate GOP …. he is McConnell’s hand picked protégé .

They do not care if they are in the majority or the minority in Congress. They vote as a bloc, and they do not provide support until they have received their necessary indulgences.

They don’t care about election integrity in the least …. because it is less work to sit back and be the toll collectors.

Just like with immigration, our Legislative branch is unwilling to do their jobs …. Unwilling to provide the legal governance to write good laws.

I doubt our legislators even remember how to write Law …. they’ve been completely reliant on lobbyists for decades.

Imagine the additional strides that could’ve already been made by this point in time if we had Republican leadership that actually worked with DJT instead of passively-aggressively trying to run out the clock on his administration.

Recess appointments proceed now?

Senate has to be gone 10 days and not have scheduled a pro forma session.
They are scheduled to be gone longer than 10 days but don't know if they schedule pro forma...... I'm thinking they will to protect from Trump doing recess appointments.

Whether he wants to or not, he can't. Even if the filibuster was gone there aren't 50 votes on the Republican side for it.

Between senators who have lost primaries, Collins trying to protect her seat, etc. you can't get to 50.

Also, how do you retroactively check voter rolls for citizenship status? Not all states (probably very few) have that on record. Are you going to force everyone to reregister?

The sad thing is, it will become a self fulfilling prophecy. If it doesn't pass then a large chunk of Republicans stay home in November. Republicans staying home leads to big Democrat gains in the election. Ergo cheating or no cheating the outcome is the same.

That's the bs thune excuse. Stop listening to his excuses. He is the top leader of the senate. When the numbers are tight it takes a real leader to corral all the votes needed. Leading by any means legally necessary and some means may be a little shady but you have to do what needs to be done. This jackass has thumbed his nose at the mandate that the election brought them. He has obfuscated every thing trump has tried to do including not allowing recess appointments.

Agreed. Just like Trump did yesterday in their GOP luncheon. Trump lit their asses up fighting for what's best for this nation. Many Senators in the luncheon can't get past their TDS or their corrupt souls to recognize whats at stake.

No. One senator will be holding proforma sessions to block recess appointments.
