What are your hobbies?
What are the frivolous 'toys' I spend money on?
I suppose books, records, and films. Obviously, I'm not talking about watching some new comic book movie. I mean like watching the Godfather in 4k at home.
Looks the The Squonk got it more right than he knew

Yet you're glued to these forums everyday. Don't act so high and mighty

You don't see a difference between Internet political forums and an adult playing something like this for hours every day?

Well, no I don't think that. I know it.
I've said many times, I post here in hopes that someone else who may be coming around to the idea that you people are off your rockers sees someone else calling it out and feels more emboldened to do the same.
Just like I think the Reddit liberal echo chamber is disgusting and is bad for the country, I also think 'Political Talk' is actively hurting people.

Being online for 12+ hours playing games is not healthy.
But being on TD for 12+ hours is perfectly healthy.

Its funny that is their answer to TDS. They get all googly when they say it thinking it pisses off MAGA.
It kind of pissed off Trump. He even scolded a reporter for asking about it. The Troller in Chief doesn't like being trolled.

You have to throw in Xwitter, Reddit, and all the other social media platforms people troll for content to bring here. Lots and lots of time wasted.

There was a video of grown men fighting over Pokemon cards the other day. Grown men playing video games 12+ hours a day.
This one needs to be studied with how rampant it is all of a sudden. Adult coloring books, adult lego sets, disney adults... it's honestly become the norm to keep childhood interests well into adulthood. That and consuming child content.... I have 20 something I work with who her favorite show is Bluey...she has no kids, she watches it because SHE enjoys it. The whole thing is fricking bizarre.

4. Social feeds
Yep
The tribalism is largely due to social media putting people into bubbles and feeding you things that they think you'll engage with

It's evident in the fact that people are posting about comparing Fisher Price toys to Legos and nobody has ripped their heads off yet.
How could ANYONE confuse these two, right?

One of those is for children and the other is for mature adults you say?
Let me help you out in a way your father obviously never did. "Son, you're a pussy."

How on earth is sitting on your arse watching a movie any different than playing a video game?
I RARELY play video games, fwiw.

Most people on this forum are actually out of their minds. There's no way yall don't see this, right?
Is it possible that you are the one out of your mind? I'm just curious about your own self evaluation. Is it, or is it not possible?

One is a toy specifically made for children and the other is not. It's really not much more complicated than that.

3. Extended Adolescence
This is the one that doesn't get as much attention. There was a video of grown men fighting over Pokemon cards the other day. Grown men playing video games 12+ hours a day. Grown women acting like spoiled teenagers when they get pulled over.
All of your three points are valid. I just want to say that this third one gets a lot of attention from me. I’ve posted about it numerous times on this board. It used to be that by 18 every male was considered a man. Now he can be on his parents health insurance until he’s 26!!!!

That simply isn’t true.

Your source for this post - your social feed - is also a big part of the problem. Don’t get me wrong, I’m just as guilty of addiction to social media.
I had a conversation this weekend. I’ve noticed that my attention span has started to get cooked. I used to read hundreds of books pre-internet and especially pre-social media. Now if I open one of the dozens of unread books on my shelves, my phone and THIS frickING PLACE call like a siren song. I’m 60 years old and I shouldn’t be this way.
I’m convinced it’s been deliberate and planned de-literacy of an entire generation. How many teenagers and 20-something’s do you know who regularly read books for knowledge and entertainment? I once was a voracious reader, even as a child of 8-10 years old. Books, magazines, newspapers, anything I could get my hands on. Now people - including me I hate to admit - get their news, information and “knowledge” from Twitter, Tik Tok and YouTube videos.
If you’ve managed to avoid the social media black hole, good on you. I’m committed to breaking free of it.

A pretty good argument could be made that the social feed itself is the cause of all of this.

I really don't understand this. I played a few pinball and arcade video games in the early 80's. I think that was the last time. I can't even imagine. It's like still playing with Legos into your 40's or 50's... and some actually still do that as well.
Some of us just never stopped having fun ... whether it's pinball, arcade games, or building ridiculous Lego castles at 50. It’s either that or yelling at clouds and collecting decorative spoons.
I guess we all choose our adventure, amirite?
