They will deport anyone working last, if they deport them at all.

Just moving the bad apples and setting the tone is going get the point across.

We dont want to disrupt the construction business that is for sure.

Everyone in Texas knows how sweet the deal is and its beneficial to both sides.

I think the free ride all the gimmees get now will soon be over and they will have to support themselves or die...

I have never seen so many working age people who sit around all day holding down the couch on their latest I-phone as I see down here and they drive a nicer car than my paid for car.

The two best ways to clear a commercial construction site:

-walk around yelling "immigration is here"
-walk around yelling "OSHA is here"

Millions are here to rob, rape, and live off the backs of American citizens. They aren't working in construction or in any other trade.

I retired from construction and I have no sympathy for the companies that hired illegals.

“you don’t work, you don’t eat”

This is the way I was raised - born in 1938 = the depths of the depression.

At least things had already hit rock bottom the year I was born and so I was always on the positive trend of the curve. But my earliest years were at a time when nobody had a red cent to spare - EVERYONE worked, or didn't eat.

My mom would feed hoboes who came around - but she made them do some work while she fixed them a meal. I asked her once why she did that - that those were really mostly my chores anyway and they'd have gotten done without the help.

She replied with the first words of wisdom I ever received (or retained)

She said "I give them something to do so they can feel like they earned it - It makes them feel better about themselves."

I have never forgotten those words, nor the spot where I was standing when she said them.

I'm an estimator. We haven't really discussed it much but I have no doubt it's going to affect our bids and the cost of doing work. It'll be tough for a couple months but I think it'll shake out alright. Pretty much everyone across the board in the framing and drywall trades are going to have to adjust labor prices. Just like the cost went up when metal studs got more expensive the cost will shoot up when labor gets scarce or more expensive.

It may slow projects down for a period of time while the work force is built back up, but people tend to gravitate toward employment opportunities where there is a need.

Like any other industry, construction is fluid. It'll find its own level and the waves will calm.

I must admit though, I really like Stout's idea for hiring all those folks from DC who are going to be looking for work. Just hope they can learn to hang and finish drywall and walk with stilts.

Not sure what happens to employers that grant their wishes, but in construction its a fairly common ask!

If the "employee" gets unhappy with the arrangement or the IRS founds out the employer is doing this, they can be hit with a big bill for the employers' portion of FICA/Med plus penalties.

"8. Can a worker voluntarily waive employee status and choose to be classified as an independent contractor?
No. Under the FLSA, a worker is an employee and not an independent contractor if they are, as a matter of economic reality, economically dependent on the employer for work."

This is what I hope Trump pushes hard on…. Votech back in high school. Push electrical, welding, carpentry, etc. learn the basics and when you turn 18 and go into apprenticeship you will be farther along.

AMEN - stop encouraging high school grads to go to college 'just to get a degree' --> those degrees in DEI analysis, and gender studies, and 'opposing racism' are totally worthless and hopefully will soon be met with derision everywhere.

I have to say guys. The Mexicans that work here seem to do a damn good job and work their asses off. I don’t want them taking American jobs but their work has never been an issue with me.

This would never be a problem with proper vetting and limited crossings.

They will also NOT be the ones targeted like the prison released or Afganastan illegals....etc

They are a great many South Americans here legally. Most working to gain citizenship....which does take some time, but as long as you are legal and doing the right things you will not be deported. That's a Fact.

It's also why so many "Legal" immigrants are against the open boarder policy of the last admimistration.

I don't understand why it's so hard for some people to figure this out. If welfare pays the equivalent of $20 an hour why would anybody work for 15? The problem isn't low wages the problem is welfare is too lucrative. Cut it off for everybody but the truly disabled or informed. Stupid or lazy shouldn't be a qualification for welfare.

Whats your purpose for bringing it home then? You just destroyed their "American jobs" narrative.
Americans will have to build those factories, the automated machinery, and they will maintain and operate said machinery.

Is it that hard for you to comprehend?

In Alabama, as far as framing goes, they are as fast as I've ever seen, and the lack of quality is only matched by the speed
