I had my own response ready to go. But I defer. Yours is the best possible.

But if we deported all those people overnight, we'd have some problems for sure.
Exactly. Some of the people think this is an easy fix. Hell yeah deport them all and pay low skill people $50 an hour to get Americans to work these jobs.
Welcome to more inflation in a big way if this were to happen.
There has to be a middle ground of deporting a lot of people, especially criminals and non workers.
Set a path to green cards or visas, etc. This will allow for taxes to be paid.
Either option will require more government workers to oversee all of this, which nobody likes.

They will be arresting the owners of the company for operating illegally because its illegal to hire illegal immigrants.

Also if you build in America and employ Americans your taxes will be cut to 15% to offset the cost and $50 an hour?
If you are paying construction workers $50 and hour then you are a moron.

This is what I hope Trump pushes hard on…. Votech back in high school. Push electrical, welding, carpentry, etc. learn the basics and when you turn 18 and go into apprenticeship you will be farther along.

This will certainly be an issue
Same for farmers

Some of y’all are really naive

If you’re legal, you can still opt to work 1099. I don’t think that goes away for employers.
Man, our company was fairly good about early compliance with the labor laws that prevented this, but we still get sued a lot over it.

The good companies have extensive backgrounds, e-verify, require TWIC cards, along with other various identification and requirements.
If some shitty company relies on illegals to get job done then they have no business winning the bid on said job.
All they do is undercut everyone else’s bids, frick shite up and end up backcharging out the arse with RFI’s and change orders. Which end up being more expensive than just hiring the professionals.
This is in reference to industrial construction. Also, don’t confuse Mexican Americans with illegals.

If you did that without a license, you've broken the law as well.
Not surprising for a leftist supporting illegals.

Well considering that the Irish and Italians did it before anything that resembles a modern immigration policy, foreign born workers along with black folks did just fine. Same with the Chinese on the West Coast and the railroads.
I will say it again.

I live in Houston so I know owners that employ Hispanics and lots ask for 1099's.
Not sure what happens to employers that grant their wishes, but in construction its a fairly common ask!

I'm all for them learning English.....and trust me, they do.....especially the Mexicans who have been exposed to American TV and music for most of their lives especially in the north of Mexico. They come over knowing enough and they pick it up pretty good.
Other types....not so much

Most of my immigrant workers have a legal green card so it doesn't affect them.
Posted on 11/21/24 at 2:35 pm to stout
I have to say guys. The Mexicans that work here seem to do a damn good job and work their asses off. I don’t want them taking American jobs but their work has never been an issue with me. I have three Honduran women that I suspect are illegals that work for a cleaning company I use. These girls work their asses off also. They literally clean out the toaster oven. Clean every blind. I have no problem with quality of work. The ones you’re complaining about in construction I don’t have any reference for. I think it’s the contractors forcing them to do work fast and get onto the next job.

Only a leftist would require a license for DIY projects.

Whats your purpose for bringing it home then? You just destroyed their "American jobs" narrative.
