People 40 years ago couldn't define that correctly either. Only difference is now they can google the answer.

Crazy, since the older you are the higher the likelihood you understand civics and economics.

There's never been more misinformation available to the public.

But the 25-34 set... these are the people who are currently dealing with crushing student loan debt

Oh well, they knew what they were getting into when they took the loans out. I have a loan on my house and HAD student debt, but I am a Gen Xer and we don't cry and complain. We put our heads down and work to pay it off! You millennials really should try it, because you would be a happier group of people.

Guess where people gravitate? People are less likely to understand basic social studies and far more likely to believe conspiracies.

Whatever information reinforces their pre-existing belief. True or not.

1) I'm an X'er not a millennial.

2) They knew what they were getting into... yes because every 17-18 year old is an expert at debt, life, and return on investment. Or maybe it was their jackass X'er guidance counselors who were pushing them to go to college for any major, as long as they went, as well as their jackass X'er parents for not steering them towards a more sensible school/major

3) X'ers cry and complain more than any group around.

We aren't any closer to being "informed" than we were 50 years ago. In fact, we are probably more biased than ever.

This simply shows the WISDOM comes with age. A dose of reality impacts your "feels" and decision making.

Interesting take, because 90% of the world would agree it's millennials.

So even though you concede that information (true or not)is more available now than ever, that doesn't bring us closer to informed? I'm not sure how you can arrive at that conclusion.

Sure, more information is available but it certainly doesn't translate to knowledge or learning.

With the exception of pop culture poison.

People can’t be bullied. We have zero tolerance policies in place everywhere so being a little bitch doesn’t require you to face the consequences like previously. They are also a victim of previous generations success. They have no idea what it took to build this nation into what it is today. Civics, history and free enterprise are so watered down in high school today too.

The only way to fix it at this point is to crack some skulls.

Why are you making this assumption? Surely the logical explanation would be that while it may not be a 1:1 correlation, information being more widely available would necessitate that information making it's way into our thick skulls.

It must be hard for you knowing that after you croak, your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will most likely reject your belief system, and won't take the country back to the 1920's like you want them to.

It's amazing how young people want to vote themselves into economic slavery.

Or maybe they see that that’s a fallacy—Nordic countries, for example, are both famously socially progressive AND happy overall. In fact, they consistently sit at the top of satisfaction indices year after year.

That’s a far cry from the doom-and-gloom scenarios the Right tries to propagate would happen if we shifted toward a more egalitarian system...

There were two studies released last year that found that American political knowledge was at an all-time low.
